Mood Boards

Does anyone else do mood boards? I print off colour collage images from Pinterest and add to mood boards plus bits of fabric, charms, beads etc. Then use these as a base for new products.

Also print off the paint colour chips or collect in store from the mixing station. Use these as colour references again find better than my colour wheel.

I love mood boards as find concentrates me before starting a project. Then keep in a portfolio for future reference as they never really date.

How do you start to create a new line?

I don’t do them very often now but use to…I did C & Guilds Fashion many moons ago and we did quite a few Mood boards and I did continue with them when I made things for personal use. I remember I made a skirt and the ideas for the lines etc came from York Minster, mainly the windows.
I now do lots of doodles instead and draw my ideas but I do often take snippetts of fabric to put next to my sketches especially if I am planning a doll. If I had the time for more embroidery I may go back to doing them again.
