Hello! I just added some of my new products to the shop. I digitally design and manufacture each one as well as hand finish and assemble them.
After being inspired by strong women in history and visiting the British Museum’s Rodin exhibit, I decided to create something cheeky and artsy.
Presenting, the Varse.
The Varse takes 30hours to make without including the design and prototyping phrase.
The material used is a biodegradable plastic called PolyLactic Acid or PLA. It is made from cornstarch and sugarcane and is also used to create medical implants. Here, PLA biodegrade best in industrial composting facilities or naturally in warm and humid places. It takes a sustained 60˚C for 5 days with moisture for it to start degrading. And roughly 6 months for the material to degrade.
The material is recyclable but not with the facilities provided by the local councils. My mistakes are sent to a company who will shred and make them into new filaments.
For future projects, I am currently experimenting with a couple of designs to see if I can make it into something beautiful.
Thank you for looking
