New search engine

Thank you very much Lynn @PaintedHorseArt, there is another thread discussing this issue as well.
Whilst we are all for helping other sellers on Folksy and sharing their lovely items I agree, it really is annoying that somebody has actually managed to find our shops in this utter shambles that they are now coerced into leaving our shop to visit someone elses.
I don’t understand how Folksy think these changes are for the better or are helping buyers, again I will repreat sellers are looking at moving elsewhere.

THBC mentioned me yesterday and said my items would work really well on there and would be very welcome, I am considering it and definitely going to have a browse.
I am sick to death of all of this the past 2 weeks, while sellers are still trying to get their shops out there on their own Folksy are probably enjoying a 4 day break, we are not as lucky, our wages are peanuts in comparison and there is no such thing as getting paid for bank holidays so consider us the sellers that enable you to earn a wage before implementing any more changes that drive customers away from our shops and Folksy altogether.

Debby @Bearlescent, if you click on Susan’s name which is in grey, then you’ll find a message button top right.

I tried to join them myself, unfortunately my items aren’t considered handmade enough as they’re ‘component’ based, which is a bit sad. Currently considering other options, although by that token seems I’m a bit stuck :slightly_frowning_face:

Right ok, don’t think I’ll bother then! Thanks :heart_exclamation:

I used to be on there. I never sold a thing in the whole year so I left. That’s not to say other’s don’t do well, and perhaps I never really gave it a chance as it was early days for the platform and it’s more expensive than Folksy but the lady running it does a darn sight more to promote it than they do on here.

I wasn’t very impressed by that website when I noticed that articles made from Jesmonite using a mould are listed under ‘ceramics for the home’. It doesn’t say much about the vetting process - unless of course the category is chosen by the maker. But the owner of the site should be more vigilant. Jesmonite is not fired clay and therefore not ceramic.

The category is chosen by the maker of course exactly as it is chosen by the maker on here.

Don’t think i would rate an alternative platform on a tiny issue like that. Pretty sure no customer except a ceramic expert like yourself would give a flying fig about that.
There is stained glass on here which is not stained glass but applied sticky lead but i wouldnt knock Folksy for that

Really do not know why you are detracting from the burning issue here which is Folksy not a competitor platform.
That issue is the shockingly bad recent changes re search And ‘curated gift guides in your face’ which this topic is discussing.
Comments on a successful competitor site with consistent and high sales (and a working search) are somewhat irrelevant and taking attention away from the Folksy problems.. which need urgently addressing.

PS I can very easily find Jesmonite pots on here under the category of Ceramic planter. And things made of Cassini under a Ceramic category too. We are limited by the categories provided by the platform. If there is no category for a specific material it has to be placed in the next best .

PS My daughter is a ceramacist but prefers to be known as a sculptor. I am not allowed to buy ceramics of course… but I love yours

What I can’t understand is , all the gift guide categories have the old setting view with the shop name, no red price and uniform picture sizes, as does the front page , so why can’t this be easily reverted back? because at the moment if you type an item in the search bar, you have one look i.e. the horrible different size pics etc, but if you click on the gift guides you get the shop name, no red price and normal pics.

I think the iT Search function is totally different from the one they use for the Gift guides. It always has been a bit odd and untidy compared to the nice neat uniformity of the guides and in fact All other displays on the site.
That is why it sticks out like a sore thumb.
My expectation that they will change anything at all re the cosmetic appearance. ?
Zilch.

After all who ever said the customer is always right :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::enraged_face::enraged_face::enraged_face::enraged_face:

To clarify:

The conversation between us and @Bearlescent (after Debby had said she’d be back in touch) was actually taking place privately via email.

At the end of an email received from a shop owner it says “visit topic or reply to this email to respond”. I chose the latter.

I was unaware that these conversations were copied over to the Folksy site for everyone else to read.

Thank you.
