This was how it all started for me ,only just got round to listing these first efforts ,and why I opened pocketfulofcolours.
I haven’t made any sales yet ,and think I’m struggling a little with instagram ,and which options to choose etc to reach more people, as don’t really want it to be linked to Facebook. Does that make any sense to anyone ?
Everyone has been very helpful to me so far, and comments and advice much appreciated.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend .
Lovely artwork. And very reasonable. Perhaps do some Christmas themed ones or cards? I buy a lot of hand painted greetings cards
When I post Instagram I #foksyhq, folksyuk, folksyshopowner, support small business and folksyScotland ( this is where I’m based). The other # are about the item and then I # all the craft fair businesses that I am a member of and/or go to. Just keep at it. Instagram is the only platform I like. FB I only use from my business account. Not a fan of FB. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice, always very welcome
Enjoy your weekend
Thankyou , much appreciated and yes am thinking about cards and especially Christmas themes
Enjoy your weekend
Did you watch the webinar about creating listing. It was very helpful, I thought my listings were ok but this showed me areas that need improvement. The link is in this thread
Hi
No I didn’t watch the webinar re listings ,tho sure I would have found it useful . I just don’t seem to have the time for these . Since retirement I wonder how I ever found time to go to work
Anyway thanks ,and have a good weekend

@Pocketfulofcolours I would recommend listening, I know what you mean about time, I listened whilst I was at the day job. I think it will really help with listings
Yes Jenni, hopefully will get round to watching it soon x
It does take a while to get noticed, what helps is to try and be involved on the Themes of The Day as much as possible and make sure you use the key word tags. Also get involved in the Talk Folksy lists where you can as it helps with movement on your page. Good luck, don’t be despondent as it has been a struggle for us all since lockdown ended but the stats are improving again.
Thankyou so much
It’s all very helpful, and as a newbie still finding my way around
Enjoy your weekend
Hi Jennie, as that’s me highlighted there to show the link to that topic, I just wanted to say that’s interesting to know you’ve found them helpful. I’ve just heard the 1st so far (christmas one) but looking forward to listening to the rest to see if I can pick anything up to help me and my shop also.
I am on holiday mode at the moment, but have just changed over to a plus account, and will be back open soon.
Judy
@MuddMade I’ve only watched the listings one as I’ve been frustrated on lack of sales when I have a successful shop elsewhere.
It was good to understand what the key areas are in the listings here. Also some of the stats that were shared.
I’ve now started updating listings, a couple a day, to see if it makes a difference
Hi Jennie, ah ok can understand that and the frustrations for you there, so hope it helps - your work is gorgeous btw - and I will listen to that one later today to see if it can help me.
This is my only shop and first try at online.
Done/do fairs and even help organise a big one yearly, have had a website, although I didn’t get the time to do that properly, so changed it, so I still have one, but now it all links to here.
Sadly this year all that though and putting all the effort needed in here, has had to take a back seat for other reasons, but hopefully now I can get back on it.
I really do like Folksy and it’s ethos, and want to make it work, but like most though, I do wish it was better known outside, as seriously the talent on here is superb and folks out there should know about that!
Judy
Judy, thank you for the kind comments about my work.
The ethos here is great, such a lovely community and I would rather support a UK site, but its hard when you are not seeing the return for your time.
Hopefully some of the changes they are doing will help everyone.
The listing one is well worth listening too! I took a couple of screen shots as I forget things, so I can refer back to them.
Seriously it’s fabulous, and your product shots etc…
So can feel your frustration.
I agree too it’s so good here, UK site/lovely community/wonderful helpful team/superb quality items… it’s literally really all there, just that one small piece of the jigsaw missing, the not known bit!
Sadly I have no answers - apart from I know promotion and will get back on that - but yes hopefully the new changes should start to help us all.
Thanks for the tip on screen shots when I view/listen, as I am the same, so it will be good to have the reference to look back on.
