Hi! I used to sell here years ago, before moving over to the other side due to lack of sales and no time to upkeep more than one shop. Things are different now and I’ve taken a slightly different turn so I’m looking at the possibility of reopening, I have my own website, amazon handmade and etsy, do you think its worth reopening my shop? I was just going to do it however all the “lack of sales” posts put me off.

Hi
I have done the same. Have an Etsy store and things were great until sales plummeted. So I reopened my store here about a month ago. I’ve had no success here either though. I’ll keep it open as I’ve nothing to lose but I’m not sure people shop here anymore
My sales haven’t dropped on etsy, but I really think I could be making more of the products I have and getting them seen elsewhere. But you’re right, I hear nothing of folksy anymore and not sure that its used.
There was a post in a different thread with someone complaining about the size of her folksy bill (but she is no where to be seen in the best sellers list) so for some shops sales are low and they have time to complain about it, other shops are busy and have no time to frequent the forums and you don’t hear that side of the story. Folksy could work for you - it depends on whether you are going to put the effort into promoting your shop it when opens and if your products are different enough.
Not sure if you realise this but you have put how you ‘discovered Etsy’ in your profile piece. Presume that meant Folksy? People might get confused if they read it and confusion might be one excuse not to shop.
I agree. There are a lot of posts about lack of sales, and I think they should be removed and placed out of the public eye. No one is going to be encouraged to shop on a platform where (some) sellers are talking it down. It’s like walking into a shop where you hear the shop assistants berating how rubbish it is; would you be tempted to buy from there or walk next door where the staff are having a jolly time celebrating their lovely stock?!
Sasha That is a little unfair. That post (not mine) did not complain about the size of their bill at all, it was a jtongue in cheek comment about the downside of good sales is that you get a bigger Folksy bill.
Now me, I am always busy, I am usually beavering away until midnight but everyone needs a few minutes off every now and then. I have a bad hand, it hurts, I have to rest it that’s why I’m on the pc taking 5 minutes instead of soldering. (And yes I am typing left handed only). And I’m nowhere in the best seller list today either… but I was for the 7 days up to today.
Maryann please join us again. Folksy is a great place to be.
Sales are up and down. Don’t know why sometimes but if you have something worth selling and let people out there know you are here then you will find it good.
I would ask what you are looking from Folksy? Many successful shop owners on Folksy are successful because they put a lot of work into directing their customers here and so you will need to do the same. When you promote yourself, which shop will you be directing customers to? If it’s other than your Folksy shop, then people won’t buy from you on Folksy but elsewhere.
