I’ve just joined and discovered that payments from a customer can take up to 10 days to hit your account. Is it safe to send out your item to a customer before you’ve received the money?
Ten days seems like such a long time for a transaction but if I wait, then the delivery time could be up to 17 days which will definitely put people off.
When you say takes 10 days what payment are you using? I use PayPal and can transfer the money immediately. The only delay I can think of is if you have a new pp account and yes they do hold onto the funds until you have completed a few transactions. Stripe I think takes about a week.
Mine is Stripe and support has just told me it can take up to 10 days. Maybe it is because I’m new, I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully, it’ll speed up. I can see the funds were received from Stripe on the 2nd, so it seems weird that they hold onto it. Thank you so much for responding! 
Paypal is in your Paypal account immediately. Stripe takes longer. Mine is 7 days but it doesn’t really matter if you have steady sales. And on Monday’s you sometimes get 3 lots in at once if you sold each day of the previous weekend.
I have no concerns the money will not arrive. It always does and I post out as soon as the order comes in.
Thanks for the information. I think I was just concerned to be sending out items before I’d been paid. I’m a bit of a worry wart 
As long as you have the e-mail from either Paypal or Stripe to say that the payment has been taken successfully, you are safe to send out the items. I think you have to opt in for Stripe to send you an e-mail regarding payments received - if you log in and go to your profile and under ‘Communication preferences’ tick the box for a ‘Successful payments’ e-mail.

Just as Alison @FluffStuffCrafts says, if you can see the payments have been successful from either PayPal or stripe, you can confidently send. As joy @JOYSofGLASS says PayPal is immediate. Stripe does take longer, i have been ‘upgraded’ to 3days pay out, and have never had a problem, but I do always check each payment has been successful!
