Shop names and domain names

Hi, I just wondered how many on here have claimed the domain names which match their shop names? I frequently see shop names but the domain names are available still. But once someone is using a name on any selling platform and/or social media, that makes the domain name redundant. I’m just curious because I’m trying to come up with a new name for my Folksy shop and everything I like that has a domain name available (in case I want my own website at any point) is being used some other way, meaning it’s pointless buying the domain name. Thanks in advance x

I claimed my domain name within 5 minutes on deciding on my rather obvious business name.

Mine is a made up name, I claimed mine as soon as I chose my name and registered it with hmrc.

Thank you for this. I think it’s a great name, and I love the things you make too.

Thank you very much

I claimed mine so i can have my own website. Very basic, profile info, a small gallery, a contact page and link to Folksy for shopping.
Also enables me to have a proper email address based on the domain name so everything is aligned and professional looking.
As a buyer i generally place more trust in sellers with a ‘proper’ online presence rather than just say a gmail address and a facebook page.

I claimed mine 10 years ago but still havn’t used the email address, I will add that when I get back from hols as like you said it would look more professional.

Hi, I went to view your website, and it is very simple but perfect, all the information is present, in short, nice to inform potential customers, now I would like to ask you, since I would also be interested in a simple page like yours, could I know what Hosting you used?

Thank you Marco! That’s what I was aiming for.
I went to Heart Internet, and bought their cheapest Wordpress hosting package. You don’t get every feature with the basic package but that made me think simple which was all I needed. I have some website design and implementation experience so was able to work that out with the aid of their documentation.
The Heart interface isn’t the most obvious, but when you figure out what’s where, it’s not hard.
Also, their support team have been really helpful when I’ve raised a ticket
