Shop Stats July 23

Does anyone believe their shop stats? I’ve been tracking mine for the last few weeks and they seem so random. They’ve also shown “error” at times, which makes me even more confident that they’re totally unreliable.

The frustrating thing is that there is so little information in the stats (and no stats to look at over a time period unless you record it yourself) that it’s impossible to have any confidence about whether they’re accurate or not! Ah, wait, perhaps that’s Folksy IT’s cunning plan… :joy:

Would be great to get a feel for what others are thinking before I raise it with Folksy.

Also, is anyone yet making Google Analytics 4 work to give them info on their Folksy shop?

I don’t like these new stats, I know the old ones took up more file space for folders but much preferred to see the products at a glance that were being noticed. I still don’t really understand what the new ones do and like you say not sure how reliable they are.

I prefer the old stats, they seemed to carry much more information. I have got the Google Analytics 4 working, but I’m finding it hard to navigate and the information is presented in a different way to the old version. Therefore, I’m not finding it very informative. If this is progress, it certainly doesn’t feel like it!

I got something useful out of the old format. I still look at the new format but they’re really not telling me anything, so I think I’m only doing it out of habit; I can’t tell if I’ve done something the previous day to explain the extra looks or the dips. Mine look really good at the moment but my last sale was 6 weeks ago and another 6 before that - I’m regular at least!
As for GoogleAnalytics, not a clue, gave up on their instructions ages ago - unless somebody gives me simple, obvious instructions, it isn’t going to happen.

I look at mine every morning, just out of habit like you say @SilvanaJewellery but I don’t know why I bother because afterwards I couldn’t tell you what it was all about. I liked being able to look in the morning and think ‘Oh yes, lots of people have looked at that item I posted on FB yesterday’.

I don’t really understand the new stats.

I quite like the bit that shows the search terms, it’s weirdly fascinating and has given me ideas for tags on a couple of occasions.

I’ve contacted Folksy support today to ask if they can give us a bit more info about the current accuracy, if there are plans for further development, and what their view is on what shop owners should be able to view via Google Analytics 4 (assuming of course that shop owners are able to learn how to uae GA4 - something currently on my to do list!).

Will post here if I find out more.

The stats I look at most days. I had my search clicks go up to 20 which made me feel i was getting tags and SEO right on here, only for them to go down to 1 after a few days.

Which bit is that - I can’t see anything like that on my stats.

I don’t look at the stats very often, as for google analytics…I threw the towel in, couldn’t seem to get it to work, didn’t understand the instructions at all, I’m sure last time it was much simpler but trying to move over from the existing didn’t seem to work for me, got me too flustered (hate wasting time on tech stuff ) so now I just look at who has favourited an item or my shop on Folksy…so much easier

I’ve heard back from Folksy now and they have confirmed that the stats are working. They’re aware that they sometimes fail to load, but the data shown is reliable.

They do have plans to expand the stats but it’s currently on the shelf as other work on the site has priority.

They recommended that I get GA4 set up and that it’s working fine with Folksy data. I’ve set it up now and the instructions worked great (thanks Kim! @konyskiw). Now I just need to learn how to interpret the data…

I must admit, I’m finding interpreting the data on G4 analytics quite tricky. On the old set up, I got a breakdown of social media referrals and I could work out which platform the views (and sometimes sales) were coming from. Now everything is just branded “social” which isn’t very helpful. Of course, I might be missing something!

When I go to my Stats, there are three sections and from left to right, they have figures for - Item Visits, Shop Visits, and Search Clicks. So Search Clicks is on the right. In the same box, you can click on “Show Search Terms”.
