When chatting on a thread on this forum the other day, I asked a fellow Folksy Seller who is a woodworker, if he could make me a replacement wooden knob for a set of drawers that my dog had chewed and destroyed. To be honest, it was a little bit tongue in cheek because I just happened to notice what he did and had just been looking online for something suitable, but he said he’d be willin’ (a bit like Barkis)!
Moving on a few weeks and my set of drawers is once more replete with a full set of unchewed knobs! Here’s a before and after of the originals that I sent Les along with some measurements:
I fitted the replacement knob yesterday and you honestly can’t tell it apart from the other two originals on the unit. Les Barrow of Testwood Woodcraft is awesome! If you’re looking for anything requiring wood and awesome woodworking skills, I highly recommend him

I remember the thread Debbie and it’s so cool that he was able to help! How clever, and what beautiful items Les has in his shop (or are we calling him Barkis from now on ?).

If the cap fits!
Clearly a very talented man whose shop doesn’t get the attention it deserves

This is very interesting to read, especially as I have been looking for a simple, not too expensive wooden frame for a ready-mounted painting I bought from a fellow Folksy seller, and I’m having trouble finding one that is square and has anti-glare glass/acrylic - perhaps I have been looking in the wrong place?
Any woodcrafters who read this and think they could help, feel free to dm me!

How wonderful. Just shows that FOLKSY is by far the best place to find the best craftsmanship.

I do wonder if we should have some sort of ‘wanted / seeking’ board here to ask if anyone can help with makes or skills we’re looking for (or recommend others who can)? Maybe it could also be a collaboration space where you can look for other makers to collaborate on specific projects you have in mind?

This is a fab idea. I’d be interested in finding someone who could make some floating/tray frames for some of my work.

Only just seen this - isn’t it lovely when one can help or get help from another crafter in a group. It’s a shame though that I constantly have the feeling we are promoting to each other and hope we can jointly fathom out how to get Folksy more widely known and appreciated.
