Hi..I’ve been on Folksy for a while, and Instagram and Facebook still no sales, advice please. I was on Vinted but they don’t like handcrafted things but I sold over 230 before they decided to cancel my account. Help please. Glitzybitz66
Your social media links on your shop.
Facebook goes to your personal page but no link to Folksy in your bio. Do you have a business page on FB.
Instagram states no profile found.
To get sales on Folksy you need to promote on social media platforms, daily at least. I use Meta business via my business page, every time make something, schedule in advance to publish, with all my links etc. Meta also pastes to instagram if you have this set up. I have been using YouTube for videos that also helps sales, customers love to see something in detail. My YT link have out under the blog button on my shop.
Unfortunately Folksy doesn’t advertise. They put the onus on the individual shop owners to do all the advertising for them, so unless you invest the time and money into advertising your shop yourself, you won’t get any traffic.
Hi..on Instagram my name is lorijean.70 my reels have been getting a few views. But no comments or favorites. My link is there too. But not much happening..
That may be your iG name but it is not the link you have set up in your shop which comes up as :
https ://www.instagram.com/lori4ian?igsh=a2Z6Y3FseDlpcWxq
(I have inserted a space as otherwise it will not show you properly)
I’ve looked at your IG page and see you have put a link not to your Folksy shop but to one individual listing in your shop which is not going to help a lot if you sell that piece. Maybe take a look at your links to and from your shop and check everything works. It is after all attention to detail or lack of which a potential customer might notice.
Hi..got my first favorite on Folksy, but i think it’s a shame that you can’t thank them for their interest and perhaps make a friend with a like minded interests. Glitzybitz66
Hi..I was wondering why i have not been promoted as a New Seller, any ideas. Getting a little concerned nothing selling. You name it I’ve done it. Lots of views. Thinking of giving up. Glitzybitz66
Not sure what you mean about being promoted as a new seller. Do you mean being chosen for one of the Gift guides on Folksy’s home page? The items there are chosen by Folksy - I’ve been on here a couple of years and never had anything chosen!
However, there is plenty you can do to ensure you have items appearing on the home page. Firstly, check out the Theme of the Day headings on your dashboard and use those that are appropiate. Secondly, join the Daily listing challenge thread, which is great fun. You will get to know other sellers and your items will get a brief spot in the ‘popular now’ section. Instructions are at the beginning of that thread
Outside of Folksy, it is also up to you to promote your shop yourself.
Hope you get a sale soon
Edited - I see you already have had 5 sales, so you are doing OK if you only joined last month!
Lori @Glitzybitz66 I waited 3 months for my first sale, it takes time to get noticed…I now have over 2500 sales..you have to work at it…and as Liz says you have to promote and join in with the forums…show your items…there are lots of threads where you could show what you have made…
The challenge thread is good but it is hard work as you have to help others promote their items as well…(but they then help YOU ),when we visit each other’s shops and click on their items, we get on the front page for a few minutes which helps us to get seen.
There are lots of jewellery shops, so you have to stand out to be seen.
There are themes of the day that you can join and folksy give special tags that you can add to your items…it all helps.
Your first good step is to come on here to ask for help.
Everyone here is lovely, so stick with it…the sales will come so hang on xx
re the favouriting… Lori @Glitzybitz66 I click to like loads of items but would never expect a response…it just means that I like their work and if they contacted me I would feel that I was being stalked…a bit like going into a bricks and mortar shop, looking at something and having an assistant run up to me and hover around me…I would find that intimidating… and if I contacted everyone who liked my work I would be here all day…to me it is just a recognition that people like and admire what I do. x
Hi thankyou for the information.. Just to say the 5 sales I’ve had were return buyers from Vinted and personal friends so they don’t really count as far as registering with Folksy really. Many thanks again for your help. Glitzybitz66
All sales count with me!!!
My Folksy sales have only been my sister in law, an old friend I keep in touch with via facebook, and 3 or 4 from fellow Folksy sellers. But I am grateful for every one of them.
Oh dear..no need to get angry with me….Just saying that’s all. Of course im very grateful for every sale, to know that people out there like what just comes out of my head is absolutely wonderful, such a lovely feeling. I make them everyday, such fun. Glitzybitz66..Lori
Hi, I just clicked your Instagram link to go and follow you there but your Instagram link didn’t work - you might like to fix that. Also make sure your instagram/facebook is pointing people to you folksy page - I find sales sometimes come that way when I promote my listings on Instagram or FB
Sorry. Never occurred to me I would come across as angry. I certainly wasn’t angry with you, just trying to be encouraging!
