You just missed it

Hmmmmmm now I am not liking it so much, as I just went through my expired listings one by one, the banner popped up on approx half, but then started showing items from OTHER shops. No way do I want my item page to be used as a free advert for all and sundry out of my control ( I don’t mind promoting other shops of my choice on my terms - that’s the friendliness of Folksy)
That was one of the things that appeared on the main rival site that was so hated … when you clicked on an item it came up with " you may also like…" and showed items from other shops
Please, please , Folksy, stand out and be different, think of shops, not just of items.

I did Sarah, last week, on Monday morning for two orders, and then on Friday morning again for the other two. It did mark them as shipped though, despite the message. Which is not false to be honest, Folksy has been broken for a week now… I never reported it though, I’m fed up with it all.

Yep, saw that yesterday, if I click on my sold out cards it brings other cards from my shop as there are plenty, but if I click on my sold out crochet wipes it brings similar items from other shops as I don’t currently have enough in my shop to cover the places. I guess it is good for Folksy, but not for us as individual shops.

Helpful for buyers though.

If you don’t report it, they won’t know it has happened. All reports help especially for apparently random happenings.

Ok Thanks, I haven’t reported it yet because I didn’t know if it was my cookies or something? If it’s still happening tomorrow, I’ll let Folksy know x

I guess it does mean that you can hope your items are getting some free advertising on someone else’s sold out listings!

I’ve been having quite a few issues lately, to the point it got me a bit worried regarding where is folksy going. I have been reporting them and they fixed them for me (apart from one that seems to be forgotten), and under normal circumstances I would have done the same for this one as well. But I have seen the issues I had circulating to other users eventually, and I have been trying to help with those as well, by giving whatever info I had. With the admission of “we are broken” when I mark a listing as shipped in the same time when we were thrown this new search and we were asked for a feedback (testing would be the correct term here), I am very sorry to say that I felt a bit like I am paying the fees to do jobs folksy should be doing. I am sure if the sales are coming in in hundreds then other users will have the same problem eventually and report it, but for me, I am sorry, enough is enough.

I would imagine they would, but I also thought of doing enough face wipes to fill up the places with my own items

You would expect them to have noticed that when they tested it !!!

Depends on the level of regression testing. I admit it might not have occurred to me to look at new item entry when I’d been changing out of stock functionality. And like many of us here, I’ve had years of experience in the industry .

But it’s not only new item entry which is bonkers. When I take something out of stock in my own shop I do not expect to be presented with a selection of things from my own shop I might be interested in. I find it quite shockingly bad And careless.

I note there is something else wrong with this feature, with the bit of the feature which makes sense when you click on something which is out of stock, in this case from a shop’s sold listings page.
If you actually click the suggested listings in half the cases the listing photo shown is not the main picture but one of the others. This flickers and is then replaced by the main picture and it doesnt then do it again if you click that listing again. Bad for the eyes, a messy, sloppy display for potential customers and no doubt a drain on server responses too.

I am quite losing the will with it all, i can’t even be ar..d to sew. i keep saying it but i do think there’s a BUG in the system :bug: :beetle: :lady_beetle: :bug: :beetle: :lady_beetle: :bug: :beetle:

I just clicked on one of my sold items and it brought some more photos up of my bears which i quite liked because if i was a potential customer viewing it they might be tempted by another one that’s in stock from my shop but…under them it says ‘see more’ and when i clicked on that it also brought bears up from other shops, like someone else mentioned that bit is not so good as it is tempting visitors away to look at other shops.

Ok so now i like it less, tried again and this time when i clicked ‘see more’ it took me to the search for teddy bears…cards, how wouid that be relevant, if somebody is looking for a bear they don’t want pages of cards etc
There is no consistency in this either…

.. just clicked on the embroidered picture i sold yesterday and where it says ‘just missed it’ this time it showed 2 of my embroidered pincushions and then pictures from other sellers which i do not like at all, i wonder if it was because I don’t have anymore in stock, but i do have more embroidered items such as rabbits, bears and pincushions that it could have used.

I rather like the visual image links to items in my shop - better than the old message telling a customer to go to my shop to see if I have any thing they might like - not the most tempting way to get a follow-on click through.

I am even ok with other shop listings being on the “see more” link, as long as it’s mostly my items that are included - which is how it seems to be working at the moment. They way I see it, it’s a refined version of Search, where a lot of my items are guaranteed to show. If someone has liked my item enough to click through from an offsite link, I think they are going to look at my work first, and hopefully buy from me.

Yes, I may lose the sale if the customer prefers another product. But they may have done that anyway as most people shop around before they commit to buying, and I think the old style “sold out” page display would have been more likely that they just close Folksy down and go look elsewhere. If this new approach means a click through from my offline link gets a sale for another shop that may never otherwise have happened, then at least we are getting the Folksy website name out there to new customers who may come back for more.

Of course, if the “see more” link takes them to a broader search where my shop items aren’t prominent, then yes I would be unhappy.

I don’t have any problem at all with suggestions from my own shop coming up when a potential customer views something of mine which is out of stock. Nor with the See More button which i only spotted on my phone as on my laptop it is in so small a font compared to everything around it I totally missed it. I have lots of very old listings on Pinterest which do get clicked so great if a potential customer clicks and then is presented with new in stock versions.

My ‘complaint’ is about the sloppy implementation which means the feature is accidentally (and i assume it is an accident as deliberate would be just silly) popping up when i am maintaining my own listings. There is absolutely no need for it when hitting preview on a new listing nor setting stock to zero on an existing listing nor simply viewing an out of stock listing from my dashboard. All the above are just plain silly and I can only assume, and i dont assume lightly, untested.

It seems to have changed so that now, instead of showng other items from your shop, and then orher similar items from other shops, it now tries to direct you to Folksy’s gift guides. I do not like that at all. At least the previous system did show some other things from your shop, hopefully encouraging buyers to have a browse. But, when a buyer has chosen to click on your item in your shop because that is the sort of thing they are looking for, it isn’t acceptablefor them to be lured off to look at Folksy’s choice of random items. Keep it simple, stop bombarding people with piles of items they arent interested in. In other words, if they search for, say peg bags, then the list needs to come up with all peg bags available ( not just 7 pages) and if tbey pick one out and it is sold then it cansuggest others from thesame shop. If thebuyer doesntlike those they goback tothe search list. Simple.

Just spotted it and have commented on one of the search threads. .
Shocking. There I was thinking they could not Shock me further and they’ve done it again .

And instead of fixing the awful cosmetic state of the search ( never mind the useless search itself) time has been spent on deliberately annoying the customers further. Almost speechless.

Happy Easter to All Folksy sellers .

The list with similar items seems to be still appearing when a shop is on a holiday mode. When the item is actually sold out you have the gift guides appearing as mentioned, didn’t get any of them when checking my own sold items, and haven’t done any new listings to see if there is anything appearing there. So that was obviously a priority over the vanished shops and our chopped off shop names… nice…
