Any advice please

Thank you @teabreaks I want to try the daily listing challenge, but is it a bit late to try for this month now? I wanted to start it on Monday but didn’t want to get it wrong so instead I’ve been trying the “what have you listed today” thread. I could start the daily challenge one tomorrow and keep up with it until the end of the month, although in September we may be moving house so may have to miss a few consecutive days but would then pick it back up again once we had internet sorted. I assume if I did start now I would like other peoples new listings and not go back through the whole month? I think you are completely right about getting to know people as I was a bit daunted by the forums and didn’t want to feel like I was joining a conversation half way through so to speak.

If you can get on to Folksy’s Gift Guides, or their Favourite Finds then you will get a bit of free promotion. So have a look at those and see what type of photo they prefer and maybe try one or two of your t-shirts with a lighter background, you never know.

Thanks @MemyCrafts will try that x

Hi just had a look your shirts are lovely but if ordering wasn’t any indication as how size is put in unless it’s when adding to basket but that may stop people ordering

Hey thanks for letting me know.

I will have a look and see what I can do.

Hi Julie

Had a look in the listing and there doesnt seem to be an option for buyer selecting colour and size, seems an odd omission ?!

As far as I can see I just have to put a note in description saying please choose size and colour when ordering.

Doesnt give enough photo options to show all the colour variations either or am I just being a div?

Any ideas?

Yas

At the moment there aren’t any drop down menus so people can’t choose what size/ colour (or any other variation) they want and we are reliant on them remembering to put it in the message to seller box at check out and if they don’t we have to contact them. We have been asking for variations for years (and I really do mean years) and I know the team are working on it but they are a small team and other things keep coming up (like getting an alternative to paypal and GDPR stuff) so it hasn’t been done yet. And yes we only get 5 photos so if you offer it in more colour ways than that you might want to split it into 2 listings (I know what I’m about to say perpetuates stereotypes and we should not encourage that) one for more ‘girlie’ colours and one for more ‘boyish’ colours.

Yes it’s difficult as you have so much choice not sure how you could split it up eg… blue tshirt done in other colours but just one size option meaning you would have to do more listings or just make it more clear on how to order. I sell one item at a time so makes it a lot easier but haven’t any thing for sale at moment hope you get a sale soon x

Thanks for the tips, yes it would make sense to split the listings, might have to cough up and pay for the free listings too.
Another thing I might do is have a main photo, then combine the other colours into the other 4 images.
I actually have many more colours available than the 7 I have listed, so a combination of splitting the listings and combining the col options might be the best solution.
Then there’s my long sleeve tees and hoodies too! Hmm, might have to wait to list those!!

Thanks for your advice : ) xx

Just jump right in Marianne, we are a really friendly bunch, just start from the day you join until the end of the month, there’s no rule on having to wait until you can do a full month

I keep hearing that it takes time and doesnt happen overnight so would we not be better having our own website? I have a website too and social media does work as each time i put something out on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, my analytics tells me i’ve had a hike in viewings. My website is in its early days, www.made-in-wales.co.uk no sales there either but i think my products are more autumn/winter based. There are so many factors involved in making a sale

Hi Jayne
Love the colours on your page.
Did you know that only 2 of your social media links on your page are working ?
I do have my own website but use it simply to direct people to my shop here. I’ve had it from very early on as for one thing, I wanted to reserve the Joysofglass name. I also use social media, a Lot to do the same.
One of these days, if I weren’t so busy always glassing,I might find time to do my website properly but hey ho I’d rather be glassing so it will probably stay as it is forever.

Hi Joy Salt, thanks for info, will check website links. Yes all this social media, websites and blogging take too much time out of creative work, how do people find the time!

Maybe its better then to deal directly with people through people, by which i mean doing craft fayres and other face to face selling. Return to classic people based activities

Kind regards
Jayne

About 70% of my sales are now on line. I do do events but…very carefully selected ones and not very many. Yes it is lovely to actually meet my customers but…
It depends where you live of course but here in East Staffordshire the chances of any fair I am invited to being well attended, well publicised and on a day when it’s not so wet nobody comes, so hot nobody comes (and that’s just the indoor events as I’ve given up on gazebo blowing away outdoor ones) … etc and where people seem happy to have made just their table fees (!!) even though they’ve been there all day, as well as spending 2 hours setting up / taking down… oh and probably driving 100 mile round trip…
I’ll stick to online and my careful selection. Far more profitable.

Well i must say well done to you, thats great you are doing so well

Hi Jayne

Love your items, but it’s not really the done thing to put links to ‘outside’ shops on here!
