Hello everyone, I have not been around here for a while, I have been hibernating!
I am now feeling revitalised and have listed 5 paintings today including this one of a seascape. This is based on Blakeney in Norfolk, which is a beautiful coastal quayside village.

Have loved everyone’s lovely paintings. It is lovely to see such variety. Jackie xx

Its been a hectic weekend for me but I did find some time to work on a new flower picture which I hope to finish today.
Have a good week!

Looking forward to seeing the picture Sara
I did some painting yesterday but I am waiting for some brighter light to take photos.
Well done to Chris @ChrisStoneArtist for making it onto the Best sellers list on Folksy.
We artists don’t often make it onto there, so that is quite an achievement !

Thank you Brenda. No one is more surprised than me!

Yes Brenda, it is so dark. I constantly find this is a problem with photographing art. I have tried just about every combination of lighting and position but never seem to get it right. Does anyone have any general tips on this?
I finished my picture yesterday and titled it “Summer Glow” in the hope of some warmer weather soon!

I am not good at photography and even worse at technical things. I just put a light on and use a flash camera…best I can do x

I never use flash but I don’t normally bother with natural light, it probably wouldn’t be so bad for my minis but it’s not easy getting enough even natural light on a wall, so I actually take most of my photos at night. Just make sure the white balance is set right and accept there’ll have to be some photo editing to lighten things up and maybe give some extra colour tweaks to get it looking right.

I’m no good at set ups with props though, makes me wish I had a show house (or at least one room) where I could take good scene shots, but there’s too much clutter everywhere and not that many uncoloured walls in the house.

I take my pictures outside and put them on stand. I wait for a day when it’s bright but not sunshiny, if that makes sense, to avoid shadows. The outdoor light helps but I still have to edit the photos to get them looking OK. Then I always have a scan of the picture as well to show the details. There are a bunch of my older listings that I took indoors and aren’t very good, I keep meaning to get those out and redo them …

Thanks for all your comments on photography. I’m the same Kim @konyskiw I don’t have a clear wall space in a room with lots of light. Our main living room is north facing and always dark. I might have a go at taking some outside (when the weather is up to it) @HelenCliffordArt . It will be interesting to see if this helps.
