I’ve been involved in a collaborative art project for the best part of this year and yesterday had the pleasure of manning the exhibition as it came to Gravesend in Kent. 108 artists came together to design a playing card, from which two decks of playing cards were created, sent to the printers for scanning and printing, and the packs are now being sold to raise funds for charity. The 3 charities are Artrack (run by the National Autistic Society to support artists with autism), Headway (supporting those with brain injuries) and Art Inclusive (run by Nucleus Arts to help disadvantaged people access art).
The feedback we had yesterday was fantastic with many commenting on the diversity of the art on display. Local press came as well as the Arts Council. Below is a panorama pic of the event; the venue was once a mission church, so you can see beautiful stained glass windows too.
I really enjoyed being a part of this project, it was lovely to meet so many new artists locally too and I came home knackered but with a new enthusiasim for my own art going forward.
