I’ve noticed a few times that ‘best selling shops’ are empty or closed shops! how can this be?. Does the computer just pick any shop for this section so its not accurrate?
I guess sometimes they only had a few high-ticket items or maybe a big commission, and are sold out by the time they appear on that day’s best seller list?
Guess it is not updated. I think the 'best selling ’ is judged by ££££ not number of items, so they could have one item , very expensive, sell it and be the best selling shop.
The Best Sellers list is updated about 2 am in overnight processing.
It is entirely based on Order value over previous 7 Days and includes sales price And postage.
If a shop has only one thing priced at say £100 and sells it they will highly likely be in the list at about number 25 for the next 7 days. .I am 30 today with a total of £80.80 because I’ve had two orders in the last 10 days, both last Sunday.
If the £100 thing above had been shipped to the USA at a postage cost of £100 they would probably be and stay in the top ten for 7 days too. The rest of the shop would show as empty as they was the only thing try listed.
The two shops currently there with nothing listed tend to sell out the minute they do a product drop.
Absolutely. Both have well sought after pieces.
Best selling is based on value of sales for the previous 7 days. Some shops do product ‘drops’ where rather than listing in dribs and drabs they list a batch in one go (teasing it on socials in advance) and then their customers fight over who buys the items meaning that they can a) sell out in a few hours and b) sell enough to get into the best sellers list.
I’d love one of Jeff’s seals but even at £300+ they sell out quicker than I can get to my computer to buy one when he lists it (he’s currently one of the empty shops in the best sellers list so my wait continues).
Jeff’s seals are gorgeous, I was lucky enough to get one for my 25th wedding anniversary, my husband commissioned another for a wedding present for his brother. Very special pieces.
I shall have to either hone my ninja shopping skills or start dropping very unsubtle hints to Mr Sasha for our next big anniversary in a few years.
I have a Kirsty Armstrong Harriet Hare. It was a Big Birthday present and I worked up to asking for it slowly over time. ![]()

I am currently at number 4, they were big bear orders, only postage at 3.95 on each one. I often list 2 or 3 items at once now, i find setting up and gathering bits for the photography time consuming and hard work so if I have made some smaller items I will do them all at once or wait until my current bear is finished and list them when i list the bear. It does save me quite a bit of time but then every 2 weeks I might need almost a day for the photography, editing and listing. There are some shops that do extremely well on Folksy and their items are sought after so they do end up with empty shelves…i would panic if mine ran out of stock
.
As an example as to how quickly some shops can sell a drop of items - Folksy shop I follow on sm posted about a drop of 5 items 27 minutes ago (whilst I was having lunch and some digital down time), my first choice had already sold so I got my second choice. I reckon the rest of the drop will have sold by tea time.
I will be checking the BS list tomorrow to see what you bought
Is that an example of stalking

I am guessing ii was a mouse ??
Nope. But all of yesterday’s drop has sold out (as has the drop she did on Monday - I suspect yesterday’s was snapped up by those that missed out on Monday).
Give up. Can’t work it out ![]()

A correct guess gets @Bearlescent some ghoulish zombie points redeemable when the apocalypse happens. The zombie shopping ninjas shall now quietly bide their time for a month whilst Sal goes pony bothering as mental preparation for the next drop.
Lol… how did I guess
…I must go and have a have a look, I wonder if there is such a thing as a Goth zombie witch…
