Hi
My daughter is to have a studio, at last, so she can sculpt. Also so she can do pottery as she has recently taken that up too.
Son in law is building her a studio / shed at the bottom of the garden where she will have a kiln and also pot and sculpt. That’s his birthday present for her.
Looking for suggestions if anyone has any ideas please of what I can get for her birthday that could enhance her studio.
I did suggest a fan heater and a fan cooler (following my own freezing cold / roasting hot experiences in my south facing unheated high roof garage / studio) and Si thought that was a good idea but they probably already have those.
Coffee Machine ?
Blue tooth speakers ?
Storage ?
A stain glass window (of a view of somewhere you went as a family when she was little perhaps) and if that gets rejected as an idea then a coffee machine (who wants to walk the length of the garden in the rain/cold/snow for a cup of java).
Thanks Sasha. A window she could have but would have to wait until the shed is there so I know sizings, Great Xmas idea though.
She does love the coffee machine in the house…and the studio is to be right at the end of the garden. Will consult Simon
If you do make her a stain glass window and she is happy for you to do this I’d love to see it.
How about a radio? A CD player? Or some cool CDs?
I know…these items are probably so old fashioned now. But I always like the studio & radio combination. When I bought my radio to listen to when I work (and cook and bake), I felt as excited as a kid on Xmas morning!
I don’t know how much you want to spend, but a Dyson airblade, will cool automatically a very hot shed and it also purifys the air. Both essential, (in my eyes) when you have kilns working and all the dust from the clay.
Upgrade her router so she gets a wifi signal down there? Photo cube for recording the finished results.g really love the stained glass idea though, so personal and thoughtful

Martin Great idea but way out of my price range.

Thanks all. I muttered stained glass window and her face lit up. Looks as if that’s what it will be. Just need the dimensions from their plans. If it is too big a window then I will make a mirror or some such thing.

Update. I have not just decided on a window, I’ve already ordered the lead came so I can make one. Not made leaded for ages and all my old lead came is so twisted it won’t do. Sizing coming from son in law later today and I will start doodling. Might include a chicken as the chicken run is behind the new studio siting.
In the meantime as I probably can’t make the window in time, I will make her a suncatcher chicken !
