Bulk edit postage costs - how to exclude sold items?

Sorry folks, another question. I have finally come to the end of the stamps I bought before the latest postage increases so I need to put my postage up. Delighted to find a bulk edit tool for postage costs but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to exclude sold listings from the list of ‘active’ items the bulk edit tool shows me. Actually this may be several questions.

  1. How can I get it to show me just the items that are currently in stock, i.e. excluding the ones that are sold but not yet expired?
  2. Can I get it to sort by the postage cost and if so can I then easily select several items at a time or do I really need to click on each tiny box individually?
  3. If the answers to the above are ‘you can’t, deal with it’ then I will deal with it but… if I edit the postage cost on a sold item (or make other changes to it, e.g. altering the photos before relisting it) does that then change the item everywhere including on the ‘Orders’ page (and in the customer’s record of the order)? Or does the Orders page (and the buyer’s account) retain full details of the version that the customer actually purchased? I’m asking this because every item I make is a one-off and slightly different and I got caught out a couple of times on the E-site that we don’t mention, when they changed their system so that if you edited and relisted an item the edits were all transferred to every previously sold iteration of that listing too, and then when a customer came back asking for an item matching one they’d previously bought, or if they queried some detail on their item that wasn’t exactly as per the description or something, I no longer had access to the details of the exact thing they’d purchased so it was very difficult to prove anything!
If nobody can tell me the answer then I’ll do some experiments…
  1. You can’t - all the sold/ out of stock but not yet expired ones are grouped together at the top so you can skip past them to the active listings.
  2. No you can’t sort by postage cost so you do need to go through an click on all the little boxes for the items at that postage rate.
  3. The orders page retains the postage that was set when the item was ordered but if someone views the sold out item page they will see the revised postage costs. Just checked something I’ve ordered where I know the postage costs have changed and my receipt has retained the original postage costs as they were when I ordered.
Think that’s answered everything, if not just ask.

Thanks Sasha, that’s really helpful to know! Appreciate it

OK, so I just updated a sold-out item and although the shipping cost isn’t altered in the order on the ‘orders’ page, the thumbnail picture is of the new item, not the one the customer actually purchased. Even if I go to ‘print receipt’ I’m seeing the new thumbnail. So I have no record of the details of the item the customer actually purchased in the event that there is a query or a request for a match. Still, at least I now know this to be the case so I’ll just create new listings for everything I restock from now on!

Ah yes, if you’ll want to update the photos, using the copy button might be better. It’ll create a new listing with all the same details, which saves time, and any edits you do make won’t affect the original listing.
