Business cards - content

Hi everyone!

Just designing new business cards and need a bit of an advice.

Do you use just a generic business card with business info or do your cards say for example Thank you for your business, any discounts etc. Do you use QR codes? Socials tags?

I can’t make my mind up as these will be going mostly in the packs with products when sending, I’ve not done any face to face sale or craft markets yet, not sure if I will in the future.

Any advice on content, would be appreciated

Thank you everyone and have a great Friday

I wouldn’t put discount codes and thank you notes on a business card.
A lot of them now have QR codes, just make sure if you do include it, it doesn’t expire.
Mail, tel, internet site, socials, and most importantly the shop link, they should all go in my opinion. Maybe a selection of the most important if you have too many links, so it’s not like a shopping list. With so many around now, it’s easy to happen
Hope it helps x

When I have new ones printed, I’m going to add my QR code to the back. I’ve been adding it on with a sticker recently and I’m sure it is used.

Whatever you decide to put on your business cards make sure it’s readable! I’ve received some where they have crammed so much on that the print has shrunk to be illegible (I don’t want to have to get my loupe out to read these things and I’ve got pretty good eye balls anyway). I’ve opted to have a photo of a distinctive piece of work (so they know where they were when they picked it up), name, email and folksy url - most of my cards get handed out at in person events.

I would put discounts etc on a separate card. As a printer, I tend to use up trimmings by printing on one side, then writing a thank you etc on the other. It feels more personal and from the maker if you know what I mean.

Haha I know, don’t want it to be a task to read through

yeah thinking about QR just not sure how much people actually use them. my phone can’t even pick them up without an app. how old school am i? Haha

This sounds very sensible, I am trying to keep it very simple. Thank you

I agree - keep it simple! I usually have an image on one side to remind people who I am. If they are collecting a lot of cards at an event it can help! If you use Moo you can have lots of different images - just make sure kids don’t take handfuls because they want all the pictures!

I’ve recently had a new lot of cards, which I created myself and had them via vista print. The reverse has care instructions.

I went for creating my own layout, font and the information I wanted on there. I also popped my QR code on the back. I add to all my sales and hopeful that customers will take scan the QR code to have a look at my shop. I sell mainly at Fairs. Very little on Folksy, but I love the simplicity of Folksy and everyone is so helpful and friendly.

Now to get some subscribers.
Its free up to 100 people.

MOO is good - you can have mini cards, traditional cards, rounded corners, square cards…and you can choose to have a different picture on the front of each of 50!

Great style to suit the name of your business.

We’ll be having a refresh of our business cards etc in the New Year.
