Excellent piece of sleuthing, Joy!
Hope someone with a larger shop than mine can replicate it. Maybe @teabreaks or @CreationsforTinyTots
That’s interesting - have just tried what you suggested but can’t replicate it, either in Firefox on a Mac desktop or in Chrome on an iPad (I do know that most of the site pages no longer display correctly in Safari on the iPad, but that’s a different issue from the one you’re experiencing). I’ve only got 200-ish listings though so maybe not enough to be causing a problem? I hope this gets fixed for you soon, it’s infuriating when you have to make extra clicks to do something basic!
I’ve been getting intermittent 404 errors for the last week. Not only in my shop, but clicking on items in other people’s too. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of pattern - different times of day, click on one item, it’s fine, click on another and get the error message. It’s incredibly frustrating. It took me days to do a Folksy Friday board for Instagram, so long that it’s now this Friday’s board rather than last weeks!
I’ve been getting the 404 errors recently too, sometimes when I’m listing and sometimes when I’m going to look at shops.
I’ve tried the dashboard thing a few times Joy @JOYSofGLASS but it’s been fine for me. I’m able to access the dashboard straight from the shopkeeping page. I’ve got 4 pages of listings, maybe not enough to knock it off kilter. (I’m using chrome on surface pro)
Thanks to all responding. Beginning to think jt was just me.
It does mean though they customers will also be getting 404!!!
This website is under heavy load
We’re sorry, too many people are accessing this website at the same time. We’re working on this problem. Please try again later.
To be really annoying i was so stuck trying to get anywhere within Folksy I threw myself out of Chrome via ctrl alt delete … then i had to sign back into FB IG X etc etc … I am getting seriously fed up. I have better ways to spend my time
Here I am at a fair. And I cannot remove from stock the unrepeatable items I’ve sold because everything is 400 erroring
This is total rubbish
As a short term work around just to allow you to mange stock whilst your at the fair could you use the app instead?
I’m not going to mess with my phone while at a fair when I need it to take money. I am also not going to clear my cache on an hourly basis or even daily just to access my Folksy shop.
The chances of double selling are probably negative anyway.
No problem with Any other website
I tried the clear the history made no difference, sadly this is not a cure for everything and odd does not happen on other websites, only Folksy. That is a major flaw with the Folksy software.
Thankfully it’s not been a big or recurring issue for me so when it happened yesterday it was sorted out in seconds by clearing cookies and site data on my phone - I didn’t clear history. Everything has been absolutely fine today.
PS Spot the same error code from December last year…
Ps. So everyone shouts at me that I must clear my cache, my cookies and that will sort it because the problem obviously lies with my device ??
Explain to me then, why, this morning, having done no clearing nor anything else except my having had a night’s sleep with my phone still on, I Can get to my listings,my dashboard without any supposed cache related error codes.
I’m a very logical person, even studied it at Uni … but I have no doubt that later today ,back at my Xmas fair, having not attempted to access my shop in between, I will get the same 400 or even 404 errors .
Joy I can not explain it, as I have the same issues as you, they are intermittent and I do regularly clean out cookies and it does not always work. Which tells me it has nothing to do with cookies. I suspect it is more to do with the capacity of the servers or that the servers are failing. This is only a guess as without all the relevant information there is no way for me or anyone else to determine the cause of these issues.
Well would you believe it !!
Better hope nobody buys the blue star then as I can’t t repeat it or remove from stock. … !!
Can you get someone you trust to access your shop and delete for you?
Is Bob with you? Could you download the app onto his phone (so you don’t have to mess about with yours during the fair) and manage your stock using the app?
No but thanks. I will not be doing that.
It isn’t of course just my own listings. It’s everyone else’s too … So if any of my potential customers get it too ,… they are now EX customers.
