Charity Section

We’ve updated the stand with Ukraine section on the homepage to a generic charity donation section.

You can still put your Ukraine donating items here, but also items that donate to any other charity.
To include your items in this section, please add the tag ‘charity donation’ to the listing.

For any items using the tag, please make sure your listing description includes clear information about the donation details (eg amount or percentage) and the charity or organisation you are supporting.

If we find misuse of the tag (items using the tag that do not explain the donation details) the listing may be removed from the section.

If you have any items that donate a portion of the sale to a charity, please help us fill up the section.

Great, thank you

Thank you Folksy administrator for changing the front page to include any charity of our choice. I am supporting ‘Guide Dogs for the blind’. These beautiful animals give blind people the chance to live as normal life as possible by having their Guide dog and companion. It takes a considerable amount of money to bread and train the dogs not to mention the army of volunteers who dedicate their time helping to socialise them in their early weeks and months. There are still hundreds of people awaiting a guide dog as waiting lists are still very long.

I hope the general publice will support sellers raise money to help their chosen charities. There is so much hardship, poverty, natural disasters and wars going on around the world every penny helps those charities trying to alleviate the suffering of so many people.

I had a rather brilliant idea for a Christmas present for my then 9 year old grandson George 4 years ago. He is very kind and caring so I bought him an adopt a guide dog puppy package. He loved / loves it. Gets photos and updates for two years and of course we now do it every two years in his name.
Highly recommend it as a Christmas gift for the child who already has everything.
Having recently had a second bleed in my eye and now in the middle of regular eye injections I know how important sight is and how important those guide dogs must be !
Plus… did you see this…
On 5 October at 9pm, on ITV1, join Martin Clunes on his journey to rehome retired guide dog Laura
We watched it last night, so moving.

We did our wills through Guide Dogs, a local solicitor and as have no offspring they are going to do very, very well. Along with other charities.

Also locally we have Canine Dogs for Independence, go to Petersfield on a Saturday morning and they are al, they’re training in Waitrose and other shops. One of Shiloh’s sisters went off to do her service, when she was retired at 7 the lady who bred them had her back. Sadly she died just gone 11, makes us more aware how precious Shiloh is.

Hi Joy

Sorry to hear about your eyes, i hope things are o.k. It’s when you have problems you have an idea of how important ones eye’s are. I did watch Martin Clunes t,v program, what a lovely person he is. I watched the program he did on horses a few years ago, both moving programs.

My son is an intensive care charge nurse in Jersey. Unfortunately, whilst off duty one afternoon he tried to save the life of a man who was a guide dog trainers/ walker who fell of a cliff on too an old concrete war bunker. His wife also fell onto the roof whilst he was attending her husband! If you Google man falling off cliff in Jersey you will see a picture of my son on the roof of the bunker before the emergency services arrived. He got a ladder from someone living nearby. Their storey of training guide dogs for years was inspirational. It’s a charity I have always supported.

That’s a good idea doing a will thro them. We still haven’t done ours, one of those things we keep sayingwe will do. Do you have to leave all your money to them? I have two sons and three grandchildren, so we wouldn’t leave them out.

No you can make your will how you like and just leave them a legacy. Saved us about £360, for us it was a no brainer as no one else to leave the money to.

Thanks Demelza. It’s not my eyes really which are the problem. In fact they are currently fine (the injections are ensuring that), don’t even need glasses to drive. Only for sunshades really.
It’s my blood pressure. Was born with it high ! Doctor tries but is not very good at finding pills to control it. Some of my inherited genes are great but do not appreciate my Dad’s one for blood pressure nor my Mum’s arthritis. They suck !!

HI Everyone

I have just made my first sale charity donation for my chosen charity 'Guide Dogs for the blind '.
I am over the moon. Let’s hope I and everyone else does well from this front page space done by Folksy admin.

That’s so very kind of you folks to support Guide Dogs for the Blind. I’m a Puppy Raiser for Guide Dogs, currently training my sixth puppy.
The working Guide Dog Kath that you saw on the Martin Clunes programme was a puppy from my third Guide Dogs puppy’s litter when she went on to become a breeding bitch for Guide Dogs.
I’ll shortly be adding to my shop some greetings cards produced by our local Guide Dogs fundraising group (that I’m a member of) with all the proceeds from the sale (except postage costs) being donated to Guide Dogs.

So lovely that Folksy has added this charity section.

Thank you

Jacqui

I became aware of them when a puppy trainer brought his to a venue I attended regularily. I took my young grandchildren one day when he had a brand new one with him and he let them cuddle it while he explained what he does. He says it is heartbreaking everytime one goes but then there is another to love in its place.
A lovely man and such a worthwhile charity. George’s puppy adoption will last as long as I do
