We would like increase visibility for items that are being sold on Folksy to support charities. Specifically, right now, we would like to make it easier for customers to find items where a proportion of the sale price is going to help people in Ukraine affected by the conflict and refugees from the region.
The easiest way for us to do that quickly is to highlight items tagged with the words ‘stand with ukraine’.
There is absolutely no obligation to take part, but if you would like to, please:
Add the tag ‘stand with ukraine’ to items where you will be donating a portion of the sales price to a charity supporting those affected by the war in Ukraine, refugees and displaced people leaving the country.
Make sure your listing description includes clear information about the donation details (eg amount or percentage) and the charity or organisation you’re supporting.
Understand that you as the seller are responsible for ensuring the correct amount of money is donated to your chosen charity or organisation, as listed in your item description.
We are looking at other ways we can support the crisis in Ukraine and will update you here. Over time we’ll also be looking to roll out more features to make it easier to showcase charitable contributions from items in general, rather than just this issue.
Im donating 100% of the sales of my sunflower brooches to Care.org. CARE has partnered with People In Need to provide emergency assistance to the people of Ukraine affected by this crisis.
As it’s my birthday week, and to support Ukraine, I’ll be donating 100% of the money you spend in my shop to the Red Cross (postage excluded). Ends Sunday 13th March.
So this sleep mask, and EVERYTHING in my shop!
I’ve tagged some items in my shop with Stand with Ukraine, but can’t do everything as it’d take me forever to add the tag and then take it off again in a few days.
Hi Camilla @folksycontent great to see you have helped get this out there so quickly thank you.
I’ve just searched tagged items “stand with ukraine” but basically also got items that have not been tagged with this, but may have the words “stand” tagged or in the title, can seem a little confusing as i initially thought wow i’ve a load of items to choose from but upon checking there was no mention of a charity or donation so i checked their tags and no tag for "stand with ukraine, therefor wondering if i’m searching wrong or if the tag would be better just being “Ukraine” sorry if this confuses but happy if it flags up an issue that can be rectified
I think this is the same old problem with the Search function. If you want to find the Tagged items, instead of using the Search, try Tagged items: stand with ukraine on Folksy
Thanks Helen, quick question or two your link worked great, but if i was a buyer and not a seller would i need to type “tagged items stand with ukraine on folksy” in the search bar as i couldn’t find anything that said search for tags, and when i typed in the search “tagged items stand with ukraine” nothing specifically came up just for the charity items, yup i’m rubbish with tech
Ah, no, that wouldn’t work … I’m hoping Folksy put that link on the front Page, it would look like the Theme of the Day section. @folksycontent please.
Thanks to Folksy for enabling this and to those taking part. My chosen charity is Medecins Sans Frontieres whose doctors, nurses and specialist staff work in conflict zones and disaster areas bringing medical aid to all affected, without regard for politics, religion or nationality.
@JacquelineOJewellery There are 2 different things, search results and tag pages. Search results will show any items that have the words included in their titles, descriptions and tags, in any order (and unfortunately at the moment, even if only one word is a match), so it’s not good to use if you’re looking for a specific tag.
The tag pages are what are used for theme of the day, and they only bring up items which use that exact tag.
To get to a tag page, you can either click on the tag on an existing item that you know has the tag, or type in folksy.com/tags/ and at the end of that, type the tag you want to search (with _ wherever a space should be). A simple “Ukraine” wasn’t chosen as the tag as there were already items legitimately using that tag, so it had to be something where people weren’t likely to use it in normal tagging so that it would only include items that people specifically wanted to donate from.
The direct link to that tag page should be getting promoted, but it couldn’t be done immediately as yesterday there were only 6 items in there, so it seemed better to give sellers chance to fill it up a little before promoting publicly… but there’s been a great job getting it filled so quickly! Thanks everyone.
This is so good of Folksy. I have chosen unicef for my charity as there are so many orphanages in Ukraine and so many children needing help and going to need help.
Can I please, please request that anyone who uses the tag makes sure they include in the listing how much they’re donating and where, so that customers can see? I think it’s REALLY important! Sadly I’m seeing some using the tag without stating how it’s helping and I think that might put some customers off if they can’t see clearly.
I’ve just done a mini FolksyFriday/4FolksyFinds type board on social media to try and get the word out - and I’ll try and do a blog post and some more sharing later in the week if anyone else does any SM posts about it.
Thanks Sarah. I just saw your mini FolksyFriday/4Folksy Friday post on Instagram, which lead me to this thread. I’ve added ‘stand with ukraine’ to my charity card, and I think I will do my Folksy Friday this week with a selection of makers who are donating to charity for Ukraine. Helen x
