ALSO - can highly recommend http://www.talbotsgroup.co.uk/shop/cardboard-boxes/harmony-postal-range - their Harmony Postal Range is designed to post as ‘large letter’ and is much cheaper than Tiny Box Co! (also a couple of streets over from us! Whoop!)
What I like about Palmer metals is the free postage, a fairly rare thing these days😀
I buy my jewellery finding from the same supplier on ebay, because I know the quality is right for me and the price and quantity is good and delivery speedy.
I buy shipping supplies from online shops, but find I have to order loads of this to make the price better, so like other, shipping boxes, envelopes, jewellery boxes etc would be good if cheaper in smaller quantities (In nice colourful packaging/envelopes rather than brown jiffy bags!)
I spent most of yesterday looking for plastic suppliers and I just found that plastic company!! Lovely colours but im worries about importing costs, and even how to import properly.
Nicky B,have you tried cooksongold ? I was just looking at e-bay and their prices seem a bit high, that was for 1.5mm wire, don’t know if they buy from cookson and add a bit of profit.
I see from your profile you have an old puss cat,if you could save anything you could spoil him/her with it.
I use a range of UK bead suppliers for Miyuki seeds/delicas and good quality Czech beads, and although I don’t tend to use a lot of findings, I source those from similar suppliers. I mainly use Stitch n Craft, Robins Beads and the Old Bicycle Shop, but do also purchase from Europe (please no Brexit!) using Perles and Co for better volume pricing - important for kits.
For packaging I started off using the Tiny Box Company, but now try to only use substantial boxes for pieces that need the extra security, or warrant based on cost, to avoid the higher postage rates and trips to the post office, so my kits are designed to fit in a large letter size cardboard posting box, and lower priced pieces go in organza bags or hand folded envelopes. I re-use Jiffy bags mainly for environmental reasons, using my hair dryer to warm and remove any old labels, and have stickers from Moo as photo branded address labels - I’ve used Folksy offers for those and business cards in the past and would appreciate being able to continue to do so! I also use twines, ribbons and washi tape, some of which have come from fellow Folksy sellers.
In terms of help with offers/partnerships, I think my making supplies are too specialist for you to be able to help, but a discounted source for basic, good quality and stylish packing materials would be fantastic.
PACKAGING! I struggle with packaging - I like the lovely white easy- fold type boxes in white for my wedding stationery but I need lots of sizes from small (guest book size) to deeper ones for A5 order of service cards etc. I’m currently using staples and ebay but they can get expensive.
Also I need large single and double walled boxes in 30x30x30cm and 40x40x40cm (thereabouts) in quantities of about 10 but these seem to work out really expensive - I’m currently getting something similar on eBay but not thrilled at the prices. I’d love to be able to get all my packaging from one place.
I get most of my packaging from Davpack and I get bespoke sized postal boxes from ASC boxes

Hi Hilary, I buy my fabric mostly from local suppliers and quilt shows. I don’t buy in bulk so that suits me well plus I like to see and feel the fabric before I buy. I think packaging is something I would be looking to bulk buy in the future when I start to sell more items.
I buy a lot of stuff from TN Lawrence - lots of good print & craft supplies.
I’ve always received excellent customer service and speedy delivery from them.
I also buy from Blade Rubber Stamps in London again - lots of lovely stamping & craft supplies (card making, inkpads etc.) and also excellent customer serivce and speedy delivery.
I am currenlty looking for a new source of notebooks for printing/stamping but am struggling to find a UK supplier that sells eco-friendly notobooks made from recycled materials. Ideally I would like to buy these in bulk but the only thing I can find are companies who make these for the corporate market so they can print their company name on them.
ooohhh Readicuts for all my embroidery, tapestry and cross stitching supplies. Been years since I bought from them though as when I had the money I bought in bulk from them and I’ve still a huge amount of supplies. I bought from them when it was via the catalogue and always spend a heap of money in their sales.
Hi Eileen, Yes I also used to buy from the Readicut catalogue years ago, before there was online shopping. I bought loads of cross stitch kits thinking that when I had more time - in the future - that I would be able to do them all. I am now in the future and my eyes aren’t so good, but the crochet has taken over.
I buy yarns in many different places, but I recently had a look at the Readicut website and was quite impressed with the variety of yarns that they stock, in a huge variety of colours, which is the most important aspect for me.
yep I did the very same thing. I bought cross stitch, embroidery and tapestry kits to do when I retire and don’t have as much money. I’ve not stitch one since I opened my shop as they are all for my own house. Funny how things turn out. I might end up selling one or two but some I’d have completed and are either in my house or been gifted to friends.
I have used some of their supplies for my own designs in my shop though and for making things for exchanges on craft forums. I’ve also used some of the supplies when I taught arts and crafts to adults. So the supplies are slowly being used up just not the kits so much. I have over 30 cross stitch kits and about the same amount of tapestry and embroidery kits still to do.
I too looked at their website and you’re so right about their yarns. I bought some for my mother as a gift she was very happy.
Yes I have also used the supplies for my own designs, sometimes much easier than using the chart, but I still have loads of kits around the house, will make for some hard work when I am gone! I have some very crafty nieces & great nieces & have been passing supplies to them. But I also have tapestry kits, which I am hoping I will get the chance to complete. The tapestry yarn is so much easier to handle & of course the holes are much larger. I do mainly crochet now as I make my own designs, so much easier than trying to follow a chart. I think most of us have the same problems with Stash!
I send my 'puter drawings of to get laser cut, but you’ll find loads of people who do this service around the country. You’re not far from Cardiff are you? I can send you a address of someone who rents out their laser cutter.
Haha thank you! I’ll take a look at that now. Any extra ££ for the pussy cat is needed
