Customer reviews are now displayed on your Shop page

Reviews are now live on product pages on Folksy as well as on shop pages. Each product will display the three most recent reviews (for the shop rather than that particular item at the moment). All the reviews can now be indexed by Google too.

Could you let us know if you spot any bugs or weirdness. Thank you!!

PS. @JOYSofGLASS and @PocketfulCreations they look squished on my phone too, so I’ve shown @dougfolksy how they look and he’s investigating. He says it sounds like an iOS styling issue.

Everything looks good. I like the yellow stars and I think they are now smaller? Or do they look smaller because they are yellow? Either way they look more cheerful! Thanks @dougfolksy !!

Ok, thanks Camilla and Doug.

They are smaller, as requested! Well spotted.

Hi Camilla @folksycontent The reviews are fab - thanks for the changes! You’ve said reviews are showing on items for the shop rather than the item - is that a definite plan then, to have reviews for that item? Just that many of my items are one off’s - will they just not show reviews? Or could they stay as showing the most recent shop reviews? Hope that makes sense! Thanks

It does make sense. Ideally we’d like to be able to show a review of that item first where that’s available, followed by reviews of the shop, but that involves some more complicated coding. So as most items on Folksy are unique and one-off we’ve decided to keep it to reviews of the shop for now and focus on getting the other things done, like allowing guest buyers to leave reviews and improving how we prompt customers to leave reviews.

Ahh fab, thanks Camilla. Yes agree, the guest reviews are much more important, & I’d be very happy with the item staying how they are now & showing the shop reviews - it means the customer is getting to see a range of my other products too & might prompt a browse, who knows!

@folksycontent @dougfolksy I just had a closer look and, bizarrely, the review photos on the product pages aren’t squished at all, only the ones on the main shop page! How very strange!

@PocketfulCreations @JOYSofGLASS
Hello – I’ve been having a nightmare trying to replicate the iOS styling bug but I think I’ve fixed it.
How does it look for you?

Fine on my phone and I’m in the hospital with poor signal where they were squished before. Thanks Doug think you’ve fixed it. X

Yay it looks like you’ve cracked it Doug! Many thanks.

That sounds great - one of my frustrations elsewhere was my guest buyers not finding it easy to leave a review even though they really tried.

Okay the reviews approach has basically ruined my shop. I have only one ‘not very positive’ review (3 stars) - but on my shop page it shows the review rating appears below the 336 figure for sales - this gives the appearance that this one review represents all my 336 sales. I have no idea why no-one leaves reviews here, it needs to be easier. I have 8 5-star reviews on the other place and have only set that up a year ago. I can’t market my Folksy shop, and haven’t had a sales for 2 months. I’m just going to let it wither. It’s sad because I’ve been on here since 2016.

There should be a way to show the number of reviews. I don’t object to someone leaving a bad review (this guy’s beef was because of the Royal Mail, he actually liked the model) but there should be more context and an opportunity to post a response.

Bye bye.

That’s such a shame, I really loved your models. Can you contact Folksy direct and see if you can sort it out between you? It would be sad to leave on such terms, if there was a way around this. It does feel as if you have ended up being misrepresented somehow. Good luck.

It does seem unfair that if the majority of your customers don’t have the opportunity to leave a review (guest buyers), then the sole review you do get is less than five stars. I think it is safe to assume that if any of those guest buyers weren’t happy, then you would have heard about it. It seems such a shame you feel you have to leave because of this.

Hi Denis. We’ve had a look at your case and deleted the review for you, as the review related to the postage/delivery and not the item itself and also because it was the only review among hundreds of sales and therefore not a fair reflection of your shop.

We are in the process of making it easier for people to leave reviews and also making it possible for guest buyers to leave reviews - we’re aiming to have that work completed within the next few weeks. We’d also like to enable sellers to be able to respond to reviews, but that would be the next phase of changes. In the meantime, hopefully this will help you market your Folksy shop again.

Thanks Camilla - I had already deleted the listing in question, but appreciate that the review no longer appears against my shop. I don’t have a problem with people leaving honest reviews, but a right to reply would help. I had offered to hand deliver a replacement to that gentleman but he didn’t want it replaced.
Best wishes
Denis
