Happy Birthday Maria @HappyApple
All loved to here.
Glad that everyone is safe, but sorry to hear about the damage caused to property.
Please can you add 3 sales to the tally for me Sue @SueTrevor
Evening everyone. How everyone has survived the awful weather. Itâs been rubbish here and we were only in the yellow warning. Itâs blooming cold too.
Oh, Brenda, @teabreaks now youâve blown your chances of the Turner prize.
Today the fair at RSPB Saltholme went ahead, and Iâm glad it did. I sold steadily all day. I even had two ladies fighting over the same T-shirt! I did point out that I could make another one, but no, it had to be that one, now. Ho, humâŚ
So, relists again today. Hereâs a lamb vest many of you wonât have seen. lamb vest age 0-3 months
Thanks for the good luck posts. I could have been better, but it could also have been worse. I did a panic price reduction after two hours of no sales at all, and did better after that. Apparently everyone felt it slow for the first couple of hours though, so maybe I should have stuck it out. Iâm still working out whether my prices are acceptable to people, so itâs all part of the learning curve I suppose. It didnât boost my confidence when a man said to his wife âIâm not taken with any of the stalls hereâ⌠audibly, while they were browsing my table
A question for those of you who do fairs at this time of year - thereâs another two-day fair next weekend (14-15th) that might have a space or two left. Is it worth doing one so close to Christmas, or do you find it slows down as more people have finished their Christmas shopping? Itâs in a marquee with a Santaâs grotto etc. Iâm not sure whether thatâs a good sort of one to go for or not?
I have always found anything involving things for children Santa, parents do not look at the stalls only walk straight past to get to the Grotto. Hence why I stopped doing anything in schools or children related.
I agree with Caroline @Caroleecrafts, Parents and children are often focussed on Santa rather than shopping⌠the only way I would do a stall like that is if I had âpocket moneyâ items⌠stocking fillers which cost no more than a cup of coffee⌠high end items need a different type of fairâŚ
I would also avoid fairs that are aimed at families bringing children, they are not the folk who have time to focus long enough to shop.
In my experience the only people who leave shopping last minute are usually men, and they can be great customers, but are not usually drawn to fairs to shop, they do spend well online though. So itâs worth having the option to upgrade to special delivery so they get things in good time.
Iâd tend to agree with Caroline @Caroleecrafts about the Santa grotto. I donât know whether itâs too late, but I havenât done much of my Christmas shopping yet and Iâm sure there are people like me who havenât got it together yet!
Thatâs sort of what I suspected. I think Iâll give that one a miss then. Have to admit Iâm absolutely knackered after today. Iâll get the shop open again tomorrow and have a mammoth listing session. Thanks for the tip about giving the option to upgrade postage Deborah @DeborahJonesJewellery.
