Daily Listing Challenge and Group Promotion Thread - October 2024

Welcome to the October 2024 Daily Listing Challenge and Promotion Thread.

I am Alison from Fluff Stuff Crafts and I will be hosting the October thread. Many thanks to Liz @PatchworkPackages for looking after us during September.

This is a challenge thread which means that as well as listing and posting your item to the thread you must visit all the other participant shops via their daily link AND  that listing in their shop.

It does take a little time each day but it is well worth it because everyone who joins gets the benefit.

HOW TO TAKE PART (AND THE RULES)

Post your item for the day to the Challenge thread by copying and pasting the item URL from your Folksy Shop (don’t worry if you are not sure when you start just ask and someone will help). You can post a newly listed item or something already in your shop it does not matter.

On the Challenge thread click on the links for everyone’s posted item, this will take you to the item in their shop, and hit the items  - this gives the listing a brief appearance on the Folksy front page under ‘Popular Right Now’ (this is the main rule for taking part in the Challenge :sunglasses:)

If you have time you can also promote fellow listers outside of Folksy by pinning on Pinterest, making a Folksy Friday Board, posting on Facebook or Instagram etc.

If you have a Folksy sale while taking part in the Challenge thread post a message on the thread and tag me in so we can all celebrate and have a happy dance with you.

I will keep a tally of sales during the month and will regularly post about these.

The idea is we all do the same for everyone on the thread which gives us all an extra boost, along with virtual hugs and support from everyone in this lovely community.

Please remember to do your bit (clicking on everyone’s items and :heart:ing them) missing the odd day or two is fine (we all have busy lives) but please do not ‘post and run’

Hopefully we’ll have a great October and the Shop Early for Christmas promotion across the month will result in lots of sales for all of us (August has been the best month so far this year).

November Mel @aquilacrafts
December Sue @SueTrevor

Morning all

I do hope the sales start to pick up this month. At least by not making and listing on Vinted getting a lot of decluttering done. May even be able to get rid of some units, yay!

Morning everyone

Thanks for looking after us this month Alison @FluffStuffCrafts

It’s still pouring down with rain outside!

I told my other half never to get me an air fryer, we really dont have space in our kitchen for one but someone else decided to buy me one for my birthday. It’s small, which is ok because there’s only two of us most of the time however, what do people cook in it? I’m pretty certain some of you will have one. Chips, we really don’t eat them very often, boiled eggs, likewise maybe haloumi? It’s not digital, do I just cook things for the same time as I would in an oven? Please help… we’re vegetarian so when I look for recipes there mostly meat, uggh

Good morning and Happy October.
I will drop my Christmas stuff next weekend but in the meantime, I would still love to sell more of my Autumn decorations.

Today is a bunch of stylised carrots. Make for a lovely decoration.

I wasn’t keen on the air fryers at first. I’ve got two now. A single normal one and a double one. I do everything in them, hardly use the oven anymore. All my Sunday roast is cooked in them, I only do the Yorkshire puddings in the oven, and that’s because I don’t have the right pan to put in the fryer. I do meat as well, but fish, potatoes, roast vegies, they all go in there. Anything that goes in the oven or in the frying pan, I do it there. Roast potatoes with veggies & stuffing in one tray & the chicken in the other, ready in 20 mins. Have a play with it, you will love it. It cooks a lot faster than the oven and saves a lot of hassle. Put your halloumi fries at 180, they will need only a few mins. Don’t be afraid of it, open it and turn your food, like you would do with the oven. Fish, I do salmon at 200 for 6 mins each side, seabass type of fish a bit lower as it’s thin. Vegies, use lower temperature. I wouldn’t personally use it for boiled egg, I feel like it will explode in there, but I might be wrong. As a guide, go a bit lower than you set your oven, and less time. You don’t put oil in it, breaded food like halloumi, fish ets you put it as it is, chips you need to mix them a bit of oil (a spoon full or so depending on the quantity). Same with your vegies. bare fish that hasn’t got already any sauce on it, spread some oil and add your seasoning like you do with your oven. I better stop now because it’s gonna look like i’m selling fryers instead of cards

I love your last comment Mina it did make me chuckle  I will definitely try it out, it smells new at the moment so I need to try it to get rid of the smell. So basically anything that goes in the oven or frying pan try in the air fryer for less time. Maybe one of those spray oils might be good. I’ve recently treated myself to two new frying pans! They’re a delight to use…

I’m sure you will love it more than you love the frying pans!
You got the point, less temperature and less time. Open & check, it won’t do any harm. I haven’t tried the sprays, but yes, they will do the job. Roast potatoes, prepare them as you would for the oven, for chips, if you do fresh ones, cut the potatoes and bring them to boiling point, then add the oil etc. If you use frozen chips you don’t need to do that, but they will probably have instructions for air frying on the package. I’ve noticed lately lots of packages now include them in the instructions, so that might be a bit of a help x

I did wonder if packets had instructions for air fryers these days. We had left over nibbles for tea last night, no cooking involved and it was delicious :yum:

Sue. @SueTrevor …I agree with Mina @theslothscavern completely…it is simple really…forget the words air fryer…it is just an oven in a different shape.
I have two as well and haven’t used my main oven in 18 months. If it can go in the oven then it goes in the air fryer. I have one that looks like a mini oven with shelves and another one with a pull out drawer.
today I am starting off with a card
.

Brenda @teabreaks ,mine is a drawer pull out type. Apart from my new frying pans I recently revamped my kitchen and have a fairly new eye level oven which wasn’t cheap! Anyway, I’ll give it a go later today…

Morning all,

Good to see so many people joining in this month (it’s my first time hosting, so be gentle with me!!). Thanks for hosting September Liz @PatchworkPackages you did a great job with the conga line. :+1:

I’m hoping with Folksy’s Shop Early for Christmas campaign running throughout the month there will be lots of sales and I will need some gel insoles for the dancing shoes by the time we get to Halloween. :dancer:

I woke up to an overnight sale this morning. It was 11pm last night, so doesn’t count towards this month, but happy dancing anyway! :dancer: :dancer:
