Listing some lovely wool fabric today as I spent yesterday rummaging through my the offcuts from various re-enactment clothing projects. This diamond tweed was one I used for Viking cloaks - it’s an authentic weave and surprisingly not too far off colour-wise - they did like their bright shades
I’d also be interested in what fixings people include for flat canvases Judy @judyrowleyart - for my embroidered pictures in the other shop.
Congrats to all with sales, and hugs to those under the weather - including dogs!
I sell canvas mixed media and framed items, always put or add the hanging bits to the back. As nothing worse when you order a picture only to find nothing to hang it with.
Judith, if you mean the solid canvas board, then i sell it “as is”…The customer will then buy a frame as there is no other way to hang it up.
They need to be framed as there is nothing to attach at the back of solid canvas board… (The command strips are a good idea, as long as the customer has the right kind of wall.)
With box canvases…if i buy them with the inclusion of any fixtures, then i enclose them…but people can just put a hook in the wall.
I keep my prices low, so it is up to the customer to sort out any fixtures and fittings…and of course you might pay out for fittings and the customer might not like your choice.
The same applies with any frames…If I include a white frame, I can guarantee that they would want a brown one !
Hope that helps…and I have sold hundreds of canvas paintings. xx
Hi everyone. We’re back from our break away, recharging our batteries. Had a lovely time. Did some shopping, visited a museum and went to the Enlightenment show, Vivaldi’s 4 seasons set to a light show. Topped it off with OH getting Norovirus!
Here’s today’s listing. Going to work backwards to read all your news now.
Thanks Brenda. Yes I did mean the flat solid canvas board, and yes that’s helpful. It makes sense to leave them ‘as is’ so people can frame or hang with command strip themselves. I think I tried to find a ready made frame the same size as the board but it didn’t end up being the right size so it’s a lot easier to leave them. I do tend to put cord or wire on box canvases, though, but it does add to the time taken and cost of them.
I don’t frame my linocut prints or other things on paper, so people can choose the frame, and it’s also cheaper to post as is.
Thanks everyone @Caroleecrafts , @aquilacrafts , @dotterypottery for your postage advice and the reassurance that it’s quite straightforward.
Lots of lovely things on here as usual. I’ll try and join you in March. Xx
