Daily Listing Challenge and Group Promotion Thread February 2025

Lovely to hear from you Helen, I had the same only discovered during an endoscopy. I have to sleep raised on a wedge shaped pillow and take gaviscon before bed which does help. Also not eat or drink later than around 7pm. Hope they can help you and it’ll be lovely to have you back xx

Ohh, Helen, I too have silent reflux. The only symptoms were a bit of nausea and a persistent cough which I actually didn’t know was happening until my Mum/Dad pointed it out.

I was prescribed proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), but didn’t want to stay on meds long term so looked at other options after we got the symptoms under control. I found losing weight and taking more exercise helped, as well as changes to my diet. It does flare up now and again - especially when I’m under a lot o stress (not sure if it’s the stress itself, or the bad habits that creep back in) - and I’m back on the meds for a bit.

Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Morning everyone

Went for a lovely walk again yesterday and it was surprisingly busy, must have been the weather bringing everyone out. Rain forecast for today so will be at my sewing machine again.

I have had reflux for years and been on meds for years. Something I have to live with, made worse since they removed my gallbladder.

If we go for a walk after about 10, like the Mary Celeste am sure Mina @theslothscavern will agree.

When Altis closes will be even quieter.

Oh my goodness Helen @PocketfulCreations, it sounds like you’ve been through a lot in the last few months. Hopefully they have got to the bottom of it and can sort out some medication for you. It’ll be lovely to have you back in March x

Good morning. I’m off to the hairdressers this morning, which is one of my least favourite things to do. Then, when I get home, I need to take some photos of some stock that I have made to replace ones that have sold, then list them all, which is another of my least favourite chores. I may have to do something deliberately naughty so that I can go to the naughty step and have some cake to cheer myself up.

Today i’m sharing my multifunctional pot and tray, it can be used as a plant pot and saucer, as a separate pot and matching tray, or as a pot with a lid.

Morning, all. Dead excited today, as a school in Australia has contacted me asking if I can advise on a project they are doing. The Year 9 pupils are going to be designing costumes for 9 different musicals, and I have been asked if I can suggest which ones would be suitable. They are just designing, not making the costumes, so I am free to choose even the more complex ones I never got to do - I’m thinking of Starlight Express and Wicked, and maybe Hamilton and Six.

They found me through the articles I wrote on my blog a number of years ago about designing amd making stage costumes for musical theatre - I used to volunteer as “Wardrobe Mistress” of a fairly large performing arts youth group in Cardiff.

Sorry, but I just have to share a few of my favourites with you  These are Seussical, Les Mis and Guys and Dolls.

My blog is sadly out of date - promise to myself that I should resurrect it…

So excited about the costumes, I forgot to leave my listing. One of my slow stitching kits - which actually include fragements of fabric from my costume making days!!

I loved doing them Hilary - especially the design, less so the slog of sewing. In the beginning it was just me - my first year I made over 100 costumes myself in 3 months whilst still doing the full time day job :grimacing:. In later years I had some help with sewing the more standard ensemble outfits - I’d create/adapt the pattern and some of the mums would sew them up.

The yellow gingham dresses in the final photo are based on a vintage 1940s pattern that I shortened to make them flirty. But I only had 1 size so I needed to tweak it to fit kids of all ages and sizes. I learnt a lot about re-sizing patterns - but thank goodness for lycra and elastic

I am so lucky that the dad of one of the musical directors was a professional photographer (he used to work for mainstream newspapers) so we have an incredible set of photographs.

Good Morning! :sunny:

That’s fantastic news, Sharon @TheOldButton - how exciting! Just a quick one from me today, as I’m off to help a good friend pack up her house for her big move next week. I’ll be back later this afternoon to catch up with everyone.

Feeling rather peckish this morning… so here’s a good favourite - 3D Pizza Pop Up Box Birthday Card

wow, well done Sharon @TheOldButton …that is fantastic and as someone who has spent most of my life doing shows for lots of different groups, I REALLY appreciate the work that is involved…(I struggle to even sew a button on !!)
Some of the costumes I had were amazing and sadly the wardrobe mistresses, rarely get the praise that they deserve…so here’s raising a glass ( actually a cup of tea ) to YOU for all your talent and your wonderful work xx

Ha ha, so true! It’s only gone busy the last few days because of the one million roadworks in the same tiny little road, but in this weather, they will probably finish early as well!

Altis has been taken over by Farnham Tool Hire, it’s been open the last few days, not sure if it is for the public or for the transfer.
