Daily Listing Challenge and Group Promotion thread - November 2024

Yes, the shop early event is still there. I guess it doesn’t make any difference, as nobody probably sees it anyway    sorry, got to be sarcastic sometimes to get going.
I had my instagram suspended the next day after I opened it, then again about a week later along with my fb account. The first time apparently I was impersonating someone. They probably thought I was claiming to be an actual sloth… The second time it was because I had a few comments on one of my posts and I was replying, so they thought I was a robot doing it automatically. Too little you don’t get seen, too much you get suspended… that’s META for you… :woman_facepalming:

thanks everyone for you encouragement, I guess it might be time to get creative and try find different ways of getting seen, as social media has been a big fluff (for me). Will see. I bought a paper collection along with lots of moulds & ephemera from ebay a few weeks ago, and received the stencils from the same collection through the post today, out of the blue. I never bought them, but the woman wrote a note that she found them when she was clearing out, so she thought I would like them. I take it as a positive sign!

Caught up with all the news and loving. I seem to have been occupied all day with various tasks and not got round to knitting the bands for the cardigan I’m working on.

Evening All,

Really late on today, but I’ve caught up with all the loving and pinning. I’ve been busy catching up with housework, so it’s been very productive here.
Time for some cake from our next door neighbour :yum:

Have a lovely evening :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Good morning!
@SlothBear I really get you. I don’t spend nearly the time on social media due to my day job. For me, I seem to not be able to get the traction that others seem to have but I console myself that this is just a sideline at the moment. Last night I dreamed of doing a craft show. I really want to do one but day job is getting in the way. I am hoping that next year at this time I can carve out some time and head space to do a few to get a taster of what I need. I am hoping that in that way, I get my name out more widely. I could be disillusioned .

Today I am sharing another Christmas Blanket. It is good for all ages…. Lap Blanket for an adult (I made my in-laws one similar and they fought over it so made a second one for them!) or a toddler/Baby Blanket.

This is a perfect one for a Christmas Baby.

Morning All.

Off to Secretts farm shop and garden centre in Milford this morning. Eliza’s for coffee and cake for Lee, just coffee for me. Hoping the deli has something delicious to bring in for lunch.

A precious journal and purse today.

Good morning all, sorry you are struggling Mina @theslothscavern and @ButterflyThistleCreativeCrafts this is a very slow year and others who struggle for sales sending hugs to you. Although I have been selling on-line for 14 plus years it is much quieter than previous years, not just on Folksy either I have 2 other places I sell. The one thing that keeps me positive is interaction on social media. I have been on social media for a long time, pretty much since I started, I don’t have huge number of followers but I do have a lot of regulars who comment and interact so I try to post regularly which does help, I find it worth putting in some time and varying my posts with mini video’s, collages, work in progress and random pictures mostly of the weather :joy: to keep things ticking over.

Keep your mojo Mina @theslothscavern and @ButterflyThistleCreativeCrafts . I started back online 2 years ago and it has certainly been a much more competitive environment than it was before, and my sales have just got worse every month. However I have suddenly had a product flying off the shelves in my amazing store (not handmade) so you just never know what is round the corner. :crossed_fingers:
I am fairly new to candle making and only started 2 years ago and it has been difficult to prise customers away from their current suppliers! So I guess it will just take a while to get a good following of customers. It was interesting yesterday in the Christmas Folksy event that there is a very low volume of searches for candles and melts, crochet products appeared to be really popular right now.
Jealous of all the people with a social life, I can’t remeber the last time I went out, never have time or energy with trying to get business going and my two horses to care for! But I would not change it, my girls are definitely the only thing that keeps me sane!
Have a great Tuesday everyone :grinning:

Good morning. As predicted yesterday was a busy day - not sure I achieved a lot but I have at least now got some clean clothes to wear!!
Sales appear to be dwindling everywhere - I was on shift at the gallery yesterday and we had one sale for £4!! Good job it is run as a cooperative and not a regular shop - we would never survive. I don’t think it helps that the cafe opposite has recently decided to close on a Monday and Tuesday - they always bring in the footfall.
Today is haircut day, although I had it cut so short last time I’m not even sure it needs doing but too late to cancel so will just enjoy the pampering. Then back to an afternoon of remakes to stock up on things I sold last week.
