Daily Listing Challenge and Group Promotion thread - November 2024

Morning everyone,

I hope you don’t mind me joining in again. My mojo is slowly returning, I must remember to take more breaks instead of trying to plough through regardless. It’s not being helped by the lack of sun and the difficulty in taking decent photos.

Morning All,
Still dark so cannot comment on weather although, it’s still very warm down here. Finally managed to Google ‘Gavale Goat’, Susie @islamaymakes, how interesting and peculiar. Curiously the date it all started was two weeks after I was born (no not 1866, 1966 ) and I won’t tell the donkeys, their main diet is straw and it takes a lorry load to build the goat, can you imagine their faces if they saw it all burn :astonished:

Plugging on with making but nothing new to show today, a relist-

Just getting light here, but looks like another grey, gloomy day. I’m planning to finish my two commissions today, it’s been tricky with weeks of low light levels.

I do have one sale for the tally, Mel @aquilacrafts :grin:

Lovely to hear people’s successful craft fairs.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Good morning
I have got a day at the gallery today - not really meant to be my shift but the other person due on duty is relatively new and cant really be left to do a shift alone so I volunteered to go and keep him company. Will give me time to organise my Christmas display - personally I think it’s too early but don’t want to miss the sales fairy visiting.
As promised - nothing new from me, just a relist!!

Morning all, welcome back Sue @SueTrevor . I’m trying to cram everything in today as I have to go to work tomorrow for a meeting in Bridgend so travel as well . OH will have to do the post office run for me, so I have to get my orders finished, packed and ready to go. Been waiting to take pics but it’s been so dark even with my photography lights it’s still dark, hoping today is the day but it’s only just getting light so we’ll see.

Hope you all have a nice gentle day

Good morning all. Two sales to report please Mel @aquilacrafts .
I’ve woken up with no voice, having been at a very noisy party last night. It’s a good job I’m playing the flute and not singing at our Remembrance service today!

I recently bought a ring selfie light and it’s made taking photos so much easier. I even managed a video of my hands sewing a Christmas cracker! I think it’s been a good investment, given all this dull weather. £25 from a certain large online seller ……

Some more tumble dryer balls today (photographed using the light ring ….)

Another busy day ahead here. Straight after Church it is off to our son and his girlfriend’s house to help with some decorating. They have had some building work done that has been plagued with problems and delays, but now are finally on to painting!

Today’s item from me is an old one that many of you will have loved before (thank you). This, along with a couple of other shoulder bags, expires today. And that is after their second session on here, and numerous sessions on E**y before. So this is my final push! Then I will be faced with the decision as to whether to just conclude that actually no one likes them and they will never sell, and so donate them to a charity shop, or bin them, or use them myself; or whether to relist them yet again, or whether to put them in storage and try listing again in a few months! I hate decisions!

Pleased to hear the fairs went well and some of you are getting your mojo back. Hope you all have a nice relaxing Sunday.

Morning everyone. I’ll chip in to the photography discussion and say I’d be lost without my light box. There are no decent spots in this house for taking photos in natural light, and before I got the box I was faffing about with a card background and props in the back of my van. Needless to say those photos are rubbish! It’s been a good solution for my small items at least.

I had to get inventive yesterday thinking how to display my hoop earrings at the craft fairs, as there’s no way I’m spending £25 (!!!) on a leverback card punch. Think I’ve found the solution, so I’m off to make another 20+ this morning - might pop a pic on later to show you!

Actually, I meant to ask a quick question of those of you who do craft fairs - how much of a float do you take? I have a card reader, but I think I’d like to encourage people to use cash if they have it.

Great to see you back Sue @SueTrevor

Well done on the sales Corinne @WonkyTowersCrafts

I usually take about £50- 70 float @TheHermitsBothy - at least 4 £5 notes and a mix of £1, £2 and 50p coins.

For those stubborn to shift things I’ve got fed up with listing I sometimes try vinted at a knock down price. Hopefully to cover material costs x

I will probably be showing a few ( rare) relists from now until Christmas as this is my quiet time of year and I have over 450 items in my shop…
So starting off with this painting

Morning all. Like many of you, I’m struggling to photograph things, but apparently the gloom is lifting and we should have brighter days ahead. I have thought about getting a light box, but my makes are rather large. I should rig something up.

Today’s listing is some vintage fabric from my de-stash.

I do love this - it’s an early Crowson fabric with Snow White and some of the dwarves, and I think it’s much nicer than the “D” version of the old fairy tale. I am half tempted to keep it to make another set of bunting or a cushion, but I have no time as I’m trying to focus on a more coherent range using my retro bright fabrics!

Agree with Mel @aquilacrafts on amount of float although I have rarely had to dive into it - most people pay by card and those that pay cash often give the correct amount.

I’m just looking into it now, and hadn’t realised that I can only get change through my bank at the post office if I have a business bank account… which I don’t. Is nothing ever straightforward?!
