Some food for thought…
I was just on click and drop buying a small parcel postage (250g) and tracked 24, 1st class and 2nd class with signature were all the same price (£3.95). Royal Mail have said that they will be prioritising Tracked 24 (and special delivery) over the other services during strikes and since it has free home collection at the moment (rather than having to drop it off at the depot) that might be a better bet than 2nd class with signature for more expensive orders (T24 has insurance up to £100 whilst 2nd class with signature has insurance up to £50).

I’ve put T48 against small parcel items and there is now a separate listing which is the option to upgrade to T24 if customers prefer. I’ve done the same for letter and large letter items, in that there is an option to upgrade from 2nd class to 1st class. We also sell craft supplies and have had a lot of customers recently receiving items within 1 day that were sent 2nd class, which is great but does leave us rather confused as to exactly what Royal Mail are prioritising, regardless of what they claim to be doing
