as I read it about landlines Deborah @DeborahJonesJewellery people will still have a phone in the house but it will be connected to wifi…they will retain their landline phone number but it won’t be connected by cables and wires…Shocking for the elderly ( that includes me). I do have a mobile and only bought a smart phone 6 weeks ago, so that is all new to me…I prefer my laptop. So everyone with a phone that doesn’t have the internet connected to their home, will have to get it !!!
Ours never rings and when it does once every 6 months or so, we don’t answer it because we know it’s a scam as nobody has the number apart from me and my husband It surprises me they told you they are phasing it out though, when we had a technician a few months ago to check for the broadband, they did mention to my husband that they are phasing out the traditional line as we know it, and it’s all gonna be through the router. Maybe this is what they meant?
@theslothscavern …yes that is what an engineer told me…xx
Good Morning all
Wet & miserable here… bring back the sunshine
We still have a landline number, but never make any calls on it… I think it is linked in to our internet service (hubby in charge of all things like that). We still have a few elderly relatives that ring us a couple of times a year on it… costs us nothing to have it and they have peace of mind that they can still contact us
Here’s mine for today
Yes, as Brenda says, landlines will still exist as a concept, but they will be connected to the internet. We abandoned our traditional copper phone line a couple of years ago, when we had a fully fledged fibre connection. We have a “landline” over our internet connection. Calls are much cheaper than a traditional landline, but only my mother rings us on it, everyone else uses mobile! I must say since we got rid of the old copper line, our internet connection has been flawless.
My understanding is that copper lines won’t be switched off until everyone has the capability of having full fibre.
I’ve not used a landline for years. We have one with the Internet but no phone attached. When my Dad was here he had one and used it every week
Love this backpack Zuzana @knotsoneat , great partnership with Mel @aquilacrafts x
We have a landline for emergency use!
I’m epileptic & it gives us peace of mind to know that in an emergency the phone is there, where we can see it & an ambulance can be called - I’m always putting my mobile down somewhere & losing it!!
I’m not suprised that they are being phased out though… we get calls from our great aunt who’s in her 80’s & everyone else uses our mobiles!!
Lovely products as usual… here’s my contribution…

Have a good break chris @ChrisStoneArtist - never been to Liverpool but sounds like they’re plenty to enjoy.
Here’s mine for today.
Happy dancing Sarah @dotterypottery only 2 more sales to a magical number! Lets hope you have 2 sales not 3…
I can’t even remember when we did away with our landline! But I still use the number when people want a phone number on the Internet and I don’t want to give my personal phone number out. Does anyone else do this?
Thanks for your replies.
Our internet is very unreliable, and fibre are unlikely to get to us as we are quite isolated, so it is a bit of a worry. I don’t use my mobile for calls at all as we have no signal in the house, but will have to try using it via the Wi-Fi. I’m a bit of a Luddite so it all seems a bit daunting.
Afternoon all,
Have a lovely trip to Liverpool, Chris @ChrisStoneArtist. The Anglican Cathedral is beautiful.
Zuzana @knotsoneat and Mel @aquilacrafts - you should go into partnership - I love the bag
We have what I think of as a ‘landline’, but is connected to the internet. I never answer it unless a name I know comes up, as it is usually junk calls. And yes, I sometimes give that number if I don’t want to give my mobile…!
2 sales to report please Sue @SueTrevor
Happy dancing Nikki @GlintBeads
Can I add 1 to the tally please Sue @SueTrevor
Afternoon,
It’s turned cold and damp here after a pleasant morning.
We got rid of our landline a few months ago, but it was only Bloke’s mother and nuisance calls (could argue they’re the same thing ) we got on it. Great idea to give out the landline number when you don’t want pestered. I already have a ‘junk’ email address for odds and sods.
Chris @ChrisStoneArtist Enjoy Liverpool. I haven’t been, but so many people tell me it’s well worth a visit.
Have a good, everyone
A beautiful wreath from me today. Perfect gift for a special teacher
I’ve just done a bit of research and it seems unlikely the old copper network will be turned off before 2027. Rural areas are being prioritised for fibre upgrade, much of Cornwall has already been done. I honestly don’t think anyone who wants to retain a landline will be prevented from doing so.
