Folksy 365 - Daily Listing and Team Promotion Challenge - March 2023

Morning all.

Could you add a sale for me please Max @MaxPringJewellery

Lovely photos Natalie @NOfkantsCurios. Food looks delicious.

Stacey @kazandstace, not sure if you’re aware, but Folksy don’t charge fees on shipping costs. So if you offer free postage, but then add it onto your item price instead, you will pay a higher fee on any sales. I find that customers tend to accept that there is no such thing as free postage, and that “free” shipping is just added onto item prices, so they’re happy to pay the postage.

Just relisting today. I still have loads of new stuff to list but I’m busy preparing for my first artisan market of the year tomorrow, so no time to edit photos etc.

I read a research article, think done by one of the Oxford colleges. They show that the psychy of free p & p, although accepted in the price sellers reacted better and would buy more. That and a flat rate fee were also favourable but unknown until checkout felt they were being diddled.

Hard I know and each of us go with what works for us, I am happy and will be keeping as it is.

Morning everyone

I am posting first and will then backtrack to love. It seems to take me a long time to love and always end up posting too late so will try it this way round today. So a new listing.

Morning,

Hope the tablets work their magic soon, Mandy @feelfeltfound :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Stacey @kazandstace I started off with free postage. Reluctantly, I now charge for postage separately and I’m still making sales. As a customer, I accept there is probably postage to pay and unless it’s eye wateringly pricey, I’m happy to pay it. I had an experience this week where I was going to buy a couple of low price fun items for myself and my friend, but when it came to the postage, it was charging full postage for each of the items which made it so expensive. Sadly, they lost my sale.

Have a super day all :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I have a new blank card :confetti_ball: celebration time :confetti_ball:

Good morning everyone! What a lovely kingfisher, Deborah @coolforglass.
Another relist which the newbies at least won’t have seen. I wish I could incentivise myself to create more. My poor hands need something to work on! Roll on the live fairs!

Morning all
@kazandstace I tried ‘free postage’ (adding the cost in to the item price) for a while a few years ago but it made no difference to my sales, and I was then paying Folksy fees on the postage element of my price, also I felt it was unfair if the customer was buying multiple items as they end up paying a lot extra. So, I went back to having seperate postage.
Just a re list from me today

@kazandstace I have tried all different ideas for shipping…I prefer now to keep my item price low and add the postage separately…and this is also a benefit to customers who buy more than one item. On the “dark side” I incorporate the postage ( just add it on to the basic price)
However, for the customers it means that if they buy more than one item, they are paying full postage on every item and I don’t think this is fair on my regular ( and all ) customers…it can cost them a lot more and I like to be as fair as I can
EG one of my cards is £1.25 plus P&P of £1.45 ( total £2.70 )
Two cards is £2.50 Plus P&P of £1.45+ 25p for second item…total £4.20
However if I put the P&P in the base price ( shipping incorporated ) then they would be paying £2.70 +£2.70…so a total of £5.40 …( for two cards)

Thanks @XStitcherJoss
Someone at a fair said that I must do a kingfisher as so many people ask her for one but she is not able to do one in resin. I do love the kingfisher and have only spotted one a couple of times.

Morning,
Helen @PocketfulCreations I love your peg bag. The fabric is gorgeous.

I’ve listed another set of wash cloths this morning. These are made to my own pattern which I really should write up properly. I sell these as bulk orders to a few soap makers who sell with their own goodies in sets. So I thought I’d list them myself too.

That’s great news Christine - sounds like the work they’ve been doing behind the scenes is hopefully paying off.

Thanks zuzana - when someone mentioned marking recipe books I thought that was a brilliant excuse to buy some :joy:

I used to have ‘free delivery’ but now don’t. I’m not sure it makes any difference but I’m sticking to a seperate delivery cost and lower price on the item.

Good Afternoon all,

Here’s mine for today

Stacey @kazandstace I include the price of postage in my item price because I know I have often talked myself out of buying something when I get to checkout and find a postage cost is added, particularly when it’s a spur-of-the-moment purchase. But I agree with everyone else that everyone knows they are paying the postage cost one way or the other.

On the few occasions where someone orders more than one item I send them a little refund and explain that there was a saving by posting together as I dont want to benefit from someone being good enough to order more than one item.

‘Hi there’ from a warm and sunny Herefordshire - it’s an afternoon of gardening for us today (and by gardening I mean I have grandiose ideas, stand around pointing at things I think need doing and make the odd cup of tea - OH usually tells me why ‘it can’t be done’ and gets on with all the real hard work - he’s a professional horticulturalist and does everything so much better than I ever could!).

Well done all with sales, hope everyone gets a share of the nice weather - todays listing is another card variation.

Thank you so much everyone, you’ve given me a lot of food for thought. I might give it a try reducing my price and adding postage and see if it has any effect!

@NOfkantsCurios thank you!

I must say I’m getting a bit teary eyed seeing the orders coming through. I’m so pleased others like what I make. Silly emotions but it’s different when you like stuff you make and then others actually want it too :sob:

@MaxPringJewellery could you add 2 more sales on for me please
