I’m so pleased you like your cards Sharon @TheOldButton and that they arrived safe and sound. The question of copyright is a minefield isn’t it, when is it copying or when is it ‘artistic appropriation’? I think it’s fine to ‘borrow an idea’ as long as you develop and put your own artistic stamp on it. Judith Kerr was such a good artist and writer - she is inimitable anyway and few artists can match accomplishment of her work - a genius at play.
What a worry for you Karen regarding the psychiatrist - ADHD is such a difficult and misunderstood area especially in girls and I really feel for you both. I’ve got my fingers crossed that your daughter can access appropriate services as the right treatment can make all the difference. xx
Thank you! The best of it is shes 32!
Despite trying to get a diagnosis at school we are only now getting somewhere so shes struggled all these years.
Apparently her age group more and more are being diagnosed as it was missed in their younger years.
Shocking isnt it xx
How old is your daughter Karen @karenanncreations - my daughter was diagnosed with Aspergers as a young adult following self referral. She suffered years of anxiety in her childhood but the diagnosis was the best thing to have happened to her. Although she would probably prefer to be without the label it has made her (and family and friends) realise why she is the way she is. People stopped trying to change her and accepted her for the way she is and the anxiety, although still there for many situations, has dropped considerably as she has developed coping strategies. Thinking of you and your daughter.
Edit- just seen she’s 32. Keep on going … it’s so worth it. Apparently girls are very good at masking autistic tendencies!
I absolutely feel for you Karen @karenanncreations. I hope your daughter can access the right treatment for her and gets the support she needs.
My son has ADHD and it took a while for him to be diagnosed. He was in the CAMHS system until he reached 16 and then according to the rules at that time he was an adult and therefore couldn’t access any support! We had a very difficult few years but he was finally seen by a specialist in adult ADHD and put back on medication at 30! He’s 35 now and is much more on an even keel which is good to see. Take care x
Thank you… I think what has really made it worse is that she has really bad rollercoaster mood swings. One minute she is happy and suddenly it overwhelms her and she is so low… The psychiatrist may have given her the impression that this could be fixed with drugs etc but this time told her she will have to live with it! Shes finding it hard to come to terms with as she hates feeling like this all the time.
She has learning difficulties too… They are hoping his replacement- a Snr nurse who deals in mental health will be able to suggest therapy… In the meantime we are left with someone who really doesn’t want to be here
Its very difficult xx
I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s distress, Karen @karenanncreations such a worry for you . I hope your new practitioner has something to offer you. X
