Full descriptions in forums

Not sure whether I like the way folksy is now displaying the entire contents of an items description when posted on the forums. Nice to be able to read about it but if the description is very long it detracts from the picture which also gets shrunk and a photo and a little taster is really enough to make me go and look at the item if I’m interested.

@Rozcraftz I think you may be right, Roz. It may stop people from going into the shop to read the rest of the description and thus miss other items that may be of interest. Maybe its just a test?

A bigger photo and just the title would be better.

I agree, I’d rather see a bigger photo and if I want more info I’ll click on the link.

Maybe we can link @Dougfolksy and @Sianfolksy in on this thread to see if it can go back to the way it was.

I often use my photo’s from my albums on my pc, that way i just get the item i want to show, and put my own text with photo.

Trouble with that Yvette @biskettblue is you don’t get an automatic link to your shop item.

That’s true Roz :frowning:

There is a way to just show the photo and have it linked to your shop.

If you choose the photo symbol (Add Image box) at the top of the reply window.

When you open it choose the ‘from the web’ button then right click on the photo from your shop you want to show and copy the image URL, past this into the box. Then click on show more at the bottom right of the Add Image window and this gives you another strip to put the item URL- (found at the top right of the page when you are looking at your chosen image). And tra-la, photo without all the words

Hope this all makes sense…

 yes, makes sense and I realise its an option but I rather liked having a title and a few lines of text associated with it as its not always obvious from the picture exactly what it is although I suppose you could put that in the text.

Totally agree - was a shock when I listed something yesterday and found the whole description showing up. It’s fine for when people really want to look and read, not for a quick snippet. Made me consider not adding any item links to my forum posts! Elaine

I know we can add a clickable photo but it’s so much quicker just to copy and paste the link.

Thanks, am going to try that @littleRamstudio
