GPSR - What we know and what we're doing to support you

I totally agree @DemelzaDesigns that the worlds’s gone mad, I can’t cope with a lot of it any more. It’s enough to put you off of doing anything.

sadly Marilyn @petalspassions …I can see a lot of us giving up…I am 78 next week and it makes me wonder, but I love what I do and my whole life revolves around my making and selling…a sad world…

I’m like you Brenda @teabreaks my world revolves around sewing, knitting, crafts and I am not one of these people who can sit still, I have to be doing something. I’ve just signed up to folksy for a year after paying monthly and hoping that things will improve. I have been retired 10 years now and have been catching up with sewing since. I have so much fabric to use up that I have purchased over the years. I love what I do and will keep plodding on and try to let the world get me down!

I think I meant to say, I love what I do and will keep plodding on and try NOT to let the world get me down!! :joy: Senior moment!

I’m lucky that I only do this as a hobby because I love knitting and crocheting. I’d hate to have to give it up though.

I really feel for anyone who relies on selling for an income

I’ve just received a reply from one of my bricks and mortar galleries which sells to EU and NI via their online website and they are stopping doing so before Dec so it looks like the galleries will pull out rather than set up a rep, which is completely understandable. @whitecatceramics @thecrimsonrabbit Thanks for flagging up the issue and hope you get clarification from any galleries you’re with who sell your work online.

Thank you for the information

Thanks for the info, great to see we can opt out of selling to NI and the EU.

It might be interesting to see who would take responsibility for complying with the regulations in these circumstances… Would it be the gallery as an exporter / distributor, or the EU based galleries they sell to as importers (all roles mentioned in the regulations)?

My money would be on the latter as I’d imagine that EU based galleries would want to protect their source of imported art to ensure their offering to their buyers was as broad as it is today. Plus, it makes much more financial sense as the EU based galleries will likely have a number of sources outside the EU that they buy from and I’m guessing they could cover all of them with just one appointed person (or maybe handle it themselves?). I have no idea though - maybe something to ask your galleries?

There’s such a lot to think about…I’ll not go into it any further as I think it’s getting a bit unFolksy-related and off topic!

@CuriousMagpie If you want to remove both EU and ROW shipping from your listings, you just need to clear the boxes with the price (this can either be done through the individual listing pages, or by going to ‘bulk edit listings’ on your dashboard to do it in bulk).

If you want to remove EU but keep ROW shipping, you’ll need to wait for us to finish the changes to shipping.

@PhotoFairytales The shipping changes will be released as soon as possible. We’re currently focusing on this work, but it’s hard to guarantee an exact date because it just depends on how long it takes to make the changes and if any unexpected complications come up.
We definitely want it out before 13th, and were hoping for before the end of November, but I need an update from Doug before knowing if it’ll be that soon or if next week is more likely.

Either way, once the shipping changes are live we’ll email sellers and put a notification on the dashboard so it’s clear we’re ready.

Bet that keeps your feet cosy. The cost of new carpet is very expensive now, particularly if you want the best.

Ok apologies, sorry I got it wrong. I don’t ship anywhere but the uk and never have so I guess I forgot what I’d don’t when I set up my shop.

I did post on the challenge thread but thought would add to here:

After all the talk of GSPR had to laugh, Lee ordered me something from DMC, (comes from France) rather large arrived today with each packing section certified, customs gumpf ended up with 10 pages of A4 duplicated invoice, everything. What a waste of paper, the poor trees!

@Folksyadmin this is starting to blow up on the forums of a certain other platform - someone has even started a thread that mentions Folksy in the title and is quoting your blog! I just went to the blog from the link at the bottom of my Folksy shop page (this one The UK alternative to Etsy) and found that the link to how to import items is broken - it just displays a blank page (Free Etsy import service | Folksy Blog), have tried on Firefox, Safari and Chrome. Might be worth fixing it or changing it to link to the Help page (Etsy Import Service – Folksy Support & Knowledge Base) as the mood on the ‘other side’ is tending towards ‘UK sellers will have to close their shops or change platform’ so it’s probably something that people will be searching for…

Thanks Sue, that’s good to know! I tried with three different browsers so I thought it might be the site and not just me!
