This is what I don’t understand. The EU brought in those packaging regulations to try and reduce waste and encourage recyclable packaging and then do this where they want a mounting of paperwork included in the package.
Doesn’t make sense to me (although obviously the product safely totally makes sense)

I stopped selling products to the EU when the new packaging laws went into force for some of the EU countries. However the GPSR includes Northern Ireland in the new regulations. This means that I can only sell to the UK (not including NI ) and other countries. However there does not seem to be a shipping option for UK without the NI. Can you tell me when that will be available. If it doesn’t become available before the 13th Dec then I will have to close all my listings… and I was just starting to get going on Folksy again.

Folksy are working on moving Northern Ireland to the EU section and should be in place before the 13 December

There’s a link to the Folksy blog announcement in the first post on this thread, hopefully that will tell you what you need to know. We are expecting new postage options to be in place in the next few days. Also, if I’ve understood the new regs correctly they only apply to new products placed on the market after 13 Dec, so any listings that are already in your shop are fine

No, it doesn’t make sense. Which of itself is telling.

Yes, Folksy is getting lots of (positive) attention over there! Mentioned in the same breath as eBay and Amazon (in terms of proactivity in addressing this issue) and Folksy is being viewed as an authority on the subject. All helps with awareness!

@FolksyStaff I have removed postage options for Europe from my shop. When I go in to edit a listing I can see there is no price for European postage. However, when I look at an item in my shop, it replicates my Rest of World postage rates in the European postage section. Is anyone else getting this issue? I’m keen not to mislead any European shoppers.

I believe this is down to Rest of World currently including Europe. See Kim’s @kimfolksy reply earlier on this thread. At the moment you will either have both or none (this is how the system works), but after the changes you will be able to have Rest of the world without Europe.

@LooneySpoons Thanks for letting us know, that link should be fixed now (it seems the mix of responses in people saying it did/didn’t work was because there are three links to Etsy import information on that post, two worked but one didn’t).

@MissyMacGlass As mentioned above, right now that isn’t possible. We’re in the process of making the changes so you will be able to do it, but it’s not quite ready for sellers to make the changes just yet.

We’ve got a few different changes to implement with this, and we’ve decided it’ll be best to release these as soon as they’re finished, rather than waiting for them all to be finished and doing it in a batch. This means we can concentrate on the most urgent first, as everyone is impatient to exclude the EU, so please don’t panic if you notice the shipping has changed slightly but you can’t do everything you need yet. We plan to make all the changes mentioned in the blog post before 13th December, they’re just going to come a bit at a time so we can get them to you as soon as possible.

We also understand the changes we’re making right now won’t solve everyone’s issues with shipping, but we’re hoping to work on this further next year to give sellers greater control over exactly where they do/don’t ship to.

Thank you. I didn’t read the entire thread as I was sneaking onto Folksy whilst at work!!! Sorry for the duplicate question.

No worries, I remembered I had seen it somewhere, but as there are a couple of topics that have brought this up I wasn’t sure if it was here or not. Had to look it up to make sure I remember correctly :upside_down_face:

Thanks for this Kim - and all the team. This must be a big job to work through.

Just a small point but isn’t 13th December too late for NI exclusion ?..
Many sellers would have a problem hitting the post by before the 13th and the new regulations for anything ordered from the NI within the week before.

I understand there will be a grace period until 1 January and anyway it only affects new products going forward so our existing listings are perfectly fine

But what is a new product. Is it a new version of one just sold, same listing, same details, just more recently made. I can add a new product to an existing listing…
not sure it can work like that

My understanding is that it’s an product that hasn’t been on the market before. But I am struggling to work out how that applies to handmade, where each item could be regarded as new because it’s unique and individually made. I don’t think this even crossed the minds of the legislators!
(eta: I create a new listing each time I remake an item anyway, as the details of each one are slightly different and I like to have a record of exactly what I sold to whom. So I can be very clear as to what I’ve put on the market before the deadline. The exceptions are personalised items, where I reuse the same listing each time, but even those are a grey area because each iteration is unique and effectively new. This stuff makes my head hurt. I miss the days when the global online marketplace was open to crafters, but those days are well and truly over!)

As everyone of my products are 1 offs and not listed before will not post new from the 2nd and hide those done within the last few days, oh joy! Just when we need to get the sales another way to stop us.
