Hi, just looking for some advice really as still pretty new to Folksy. Would anyone mind looking at my shop and let me know if I can improve on anything? I’ve got lots of pictures currently in battered framed from exhibitions which I thought would be easier to sell/post unframed but unsure if that’s putting people off? See an example below I think maybe more photo set ups but don’t really have time.
My only thought after a quick glance is to have more items! I don’t think having pictures unframed is an issue, though it may be an idea not to start all the titles with the word unframed, but rather focussing on what the picture is. Just a thought. Wishing you every success, I see you have had a sale which is always encouraging.
Thank you, the picture I sold was framed but I was so anxious of it breaking in the post I thought it’d be better without. I take your point about quoting unframed & I’ll definitely list some more pictures this weekend
Hi Joanne, I’ve had a look at your shop and you have some beautiful items. I agree with Liz that I don’t think it matters if the items are unframed as long as it’s clear in the listing. One thing I would say is that your photos aren’t doing your items justice, I know it takes time and is a faff but it’s really worth taking time to improve them. Here’s a link to the advice from Folksy
Hi, I agree with Liz, you need more items. Think of it this way, if you went into a physical shop and it only had 10 items, would you buy anything? If you went into the next shop and it had 200, it’s more probable that you would buy something. Other than that your items are lovely. Just be aware that Folksy doesn’t do much promotion and isn’t as big as E***, so you need to put your shop out there to the public, get a FB page up and running and maybe other sites like Pinterest and Instagram maybe.
Thank you so much! I’ve spent all weekend taking new photos & listing new items so hopefully that’ll help. I have my own Facebook & Instagram pages so try and post there. I’m surprised Folksy doesn’t promote themselves & us a bit more. I guess it’s down to the cost of money & the competition.
Hi Joanne, your work is beautiful. I’d suggest focusing titles on the artwork rather than “unframed” and adding more items so buyers see variety. Better photos, even simple ones in natural light, can make a big difference. Also sharing your shop on Instagram or Pinterest can help more people find it.
