How to write your story?

Hello,

I want to work on my bio for my shop but don’t really know what to write.

Our shop began accidentally really. My husband lost his job due to Covid and became very depressed so I encouraged him to pursue his art. To help bolster that I made him an Instagram and even got him a table at an art fair in August.

The month before he panicked he wouldn’t have enough art to fill his table so I made a few bits to add. Typically the art fair was then cancelled.

After watching all the art mount up and do nothing, I suggested we start a shop and viola, here we are!

How do I make that sound at all interesting? Can I have a look at anyone elses please?

What you’ve written just there sounds a good start - lovely and very natural! :heart_eyes:

Why not stick that in your bio for now? You can always change, add to it, and improve it at any point :bulb:

Think of it as work in progress :+1:

I think what you’ve got comes across as open and honest and customers probably identify with that.

There is a theory that everything in a bio should be linked to a customer benefit e.g. ‘I individually craft items which means that you get something unique you won’t see anywhere else’ etc. Don’t think it needs to be slavish but might be worth thinking if there are ‘which means that’ customer benefit statements you could add.

I also noticed on YouTube there are some Folksy shop critique videos - not finished watching but thought might be good for picking up tips.

You have some lovely things in your shop!! :grinning: How did you get into Art and what inspired you into this particular style? How did you learn your craft? How long have you been doing it for? These are a few ideas you can add to what you have already mentioned which @feelfeltfound and @LakelandLoom have commented on as being perfectly honest and natural and customers will like that!
