Is it just me, new links within shop pages?

Just been doing my morning checks and have noticed when I look at an item page there is now a header right at the top with links for ‘departments’ all of them are there and it looks horrible, not to mention I’m not hugely happy about having links to other peoples shops so prominently displayed within my own shop, blimey it’s taken me long enough to start seeing customers, the last thing I need is for someone to find my shop only then to be tempted right back out of it!

Just noticed that too and I’m with you on this one. It’s not as if we don’t promote other Folksy shops … that’s what Folksy Friday is all about isn’t it? Foksy Friday is linked from both FB and Instgram automatically (if sellers have this set up). And both HQ and our regional Folksy Admins promote our businesses. I’m with Folksy Scotland and there are always posts from them. I’m not happy about the links away from my page at all.

I can’t see anything different. That list of categories has been there for ages.

Fairly certain they were put there when the page was redesigned to be more mobile friendly (if not before that).

Well for myself I have never picked this up before… It’s way at the bottom and you need to read all sales feedback before you see the tags. Not sure whether every seller has noticed this, but for those who have lots of feedback, I’m not sure they would have picked this up? And, why would I have missed this ‘upgrade’ announcement?

@HelenCliffordArt and @SashaGarrett ive never seen it before today, it doesn’t show on my phone, nor my MacBook but this is what I get on my iPad

Personally as I said and obviously just my opinion, it looks rubbish and why on earth do I want links to other folksy shops on my item page right at the top? At least can it be moved to the bottom where it has to be searched for??? Not right in your face as it were.

Glad it’s not just me. I didn’t mind the little link at the bottom of the page, I have to go and look for that and until someone pointed it out recently I’d never noticed it, but this just feels wrong.

To my mind it’s a link that says “you don’t like these items, but you might like these”. It’s like eba…

Exactly this, which I guess is better that folk stay within Folksy to buy, but I’d much prefer someone to carry on browsing my shop first.

I see on both mobile (Android) and on my Laptop (Lenovo)

ooh! must have missed this ‘added function’. But I’m still not sure why as a mobile friend upgrade as I found my mobile did everything the desktop/laptop did apart from I couldn’t add photos so always saved the item and then amended on my laptop.

So this is what I see on my pc

which is much more subtle than what you see (and your listings have the same layout as mine). It used to be white buttons on a grey background which was more obvious but that changed when the page was tweaked to look better on mobiles, for pc users those links have always been there in one form or another. @aaronfolksy has something been changed on the listing page which would only affect certain types of Apple devices or is this likely to be a browser issue?
Lynne - which browser you are using on your iPad and is it up to date/ has it recently updated? That sort of info can help Doug and Aaron sort out gremlins. Also if you have a secondary browser on the iPad have a look at the listings page on that as, again, it can yield useful info in tracking down what is causing the problem (when I was having issues with the sale function in firefox but not edge it allowed me to work out that it was the duckduckgo privacy extension in firefox that was causing the issue).

Thanks Sasha, I’m using chrome on my IPad and phone, Safari on MacBook all of them are up to date…. It’s very odd how I only see those links on the IPad ( IPad is 10th generation) and running on OS 16.3.1 which was updated yesterday.
That is the limit of my tech knowledge I’m afraid, I have to ask Mr PH for anything else.

Hopefully Aaron will be along at some point to clear it all up. (I find it strange that it happened the day after the OS updated and part of me is wondering if it is something to do with the OS updating so I’ll go to my usual fall back of ‘have you cleared your cache and reloaded the page?’ But I think it will be a ‘wait for Aaron to clear up whether any changes have happened’ type scenario.)

Think I’ve sussed it. It wouldn’t show for me and I was going to snip what I had so shrank my display but all that did was make the main picture bigger relatviely. So I grew the display instead and suddenly there they were at the top for me too. Try setting your display to 100% and it may sort itself. . I was on 150% when it showed. (using CTRL + and -)

There should be a search facility within the shop you are in as on E…y.

The search bar could confuse customers thinking they can search in a shop, enter a search and hey hi taken away from that shop to others,

Thank you Joy, I’m just normal size though……:disappointed:

Ok but please humour me and try therefore making your display one size smaller just to see what happens… as there is no doubt they when I adjust my display I see what you are seeing.
It may be that your display default size is already set bigger than mine.

Oh how dreadful…I certainly wouldn’t like that on my page, (which as far as I know isn’t the case, although I will check)! As you say, it’s hard enough trying to get customers without them being distracted from your page.

Hate to tell you but it is on your page for me, it’s on every page I visit from every shop :disappointed:
