Hi everyone it’s so nice to see it busy on here!
I am hobbling around today trying to get some new bits finished off.
I was sorting some bits out in the bathroom yesterday, poly filling etc and as I climbed out of the bath caught my ankle on the corner of the glass shower screen, it’s now black and swollen!
Happy days !
It’s a necklace from me today…

Sharon @TheOldButton that post is incredibly helpful with some amazing tips for new sellers and not quite so new ones like me. It will be a shame if it gets lost in this thread. Is there anyway you can copy it or create a new thread so more people have a chance to see it?

Morning everyone, we have the wet stuff here in Devon too, my garden will be very happy :umbrella_with_rain_drops:

Roz @OrchardFelts fellow restless leg sufferer here too. I went to see the new Mission Impossible Film with family the other day not realising it would be a 3 hour sit. Spent most of the time doing a Kenny Everett impression! I find my legs are worse in the evening as I start to get tired and also if I am hot.

Enjoy your trip to London Mel @aquilacrafts

Ouch Donna @underneaththeeaves that sounds painful hope it soon heals xx

It’s a paperwork day for me today, I’ve put it off for long enough… I do still do have Albus my furry friend staying with us though to keep me company

Little clay birdie magnet from me today

Sharon do you find it easier to have a separate shop for supplies or not.

I am worried I will confuse myself with a separate shop.

Good Morning All

We are off to Pitlochry tomorrow. We are going to the theatre to see a play about Nan Shepherd, the Scottish novelist. We’ve booked a hotel and Rover will have a sleepover at the Guide Dog Centre. I haven’t been to the theatre in years. I hope I can cope with the ā€˜excitement’ :joy::joy:

I am pretty sure I’ll be able to :green_heart: everything on my phone as I’m travelling. Here’s my listing for today,

Ouch! That sounds painful, Donna @underneaththeeaves . I hope it doesn’t cause you too much trouble.

TBH Caroline, I am starting to regret it a little bit. Not because it’s more work, but because of fees on listings, and a limited audience.

The positives - Having a separate supplies shop is great in keeping things organised. I was getting overwhelmed with a messy shop that didn’t sit nicely together. Things are much easier now, and I enjoy listing and rearranging the categories and items. The shop/s feel good again.

Neutral - it’s not really that much more work. I had to set up extra email account and profile on here, and it’s a bit more admin/finance reconciliation, but because the names are similar I can stick with 1 brand for promotion.

Minor issue - I find myself focusing on the supplies shop mostly, meaning I am less motivated to make things. Luckily, it’s my quiet season for my ā€œsewnā€ gifts but it will be an issue closer to Xmas.
I also have to be careful that I use the right shop name when promoting or branding. For example, my stamp has ā€œsewn byā€ The Old Button. I’ve had to stick a bit of tape over those words to get labels for the supplies shop

The negatives - when I set up the new shop, I chose Plus as I thought I would be listing loads. However, although I am getting some sales on Folksy I’m doing better on eB-y. Outside of the existing sellers, Folksy isn’t the first place people look to for craft supplies, so I’m wanting to put my new stuff on eB-y (and it’s free). But as I went for the annual Plus account  I feel I’m wasting my money if I don’t list here first/as well. That is added work.
I then stopped the Plus account on the main account as I didn’t want to pay it twice. That is restricting me from listing or relisting as much as I would like, as I resent paying lots of per item fees when I have a Plus account on the other shop. I suspect I’ll have to buy a few months of Plus as the Xmas season approaches. In the meantime, I’m shifting my crafting kits over to the supplies shop where I can list for free.

In hindsight, as I am only running the supplies shop to clear my destash while I think about what I want to do in the future, I think I could have achieved my objectives by temporarily hiding a lot of my ā€œsewnā€ items to create a more streamlined shop.

Or I should have gone for monthly Plus, and alternated between them. As well as minimising listing fees, I could then have focused on 1 shop for a month at a time.

Hope this helps.

I’ve had an email from Folksy saying that a few of my items have been included in the Folksy Farm Shop gift guide, which sounded positive. I’m blowed if I can find that one. I’ve looked through all the gift guides and couldn’t find a farm shop! Has anyone else discovered it?

Hi Corinne @WonkyTowersCrafts I received an email the other day with the farm shop collection in it and there was a link to it, so it must be somewhere. Hope that helps a little x

Your farm themed items are looking fab in the gift guide Corinne. I’m fancying one of your bread bags - started making larger loaves and find they are too big to wrap in a tea towel .
