I hope everyone’s enjoying the sunshine.
I’m feeling a little better today. Thanks for the kind messages.
I’ve actually, finally listed something new.
I love creating the odd cute character from Polymer clay. I was playing around with some orange clay, and then before I knew it these little cheeky oranges were born.
I thought they would look cute as earrings.
Just spent a relaxed hour reading your news, pinning, tweeting and loving - you are all such busy bees. Hope the hayfever sufferers are feeling a bit better - I dont suffer with it myself but I do have arthritis - it is always worse in hot weather than when it is cold. Talking of garden pests - we dont have a problem with birds but they do cost us a fortune in treats for the bird table - we do have a big problem with slugs and snails though - the little blighters have cleared all the foliage and flowers on my beans and we have just planted out some new marigolds but dont think they will last long - they seem to love them. Any tips on getting rid of slugs - but we dont use anything that is harmful to the birds and cats in the neighbourhood and my hubby is fed up with drowning them in his beer. - Anyone got any advice on Pinterest Business Account - they keep pestering me to change over to it - dont know if its beneficial or not. Now a cup of tea and then I’ll unpack a bit more stock for the weekend - see you later - Maureen
We’ve had a lot of problems with snails munching our much loved bedding plants.
We came across some copper tape in the local B&M shop. Apparently it doesn’t harm the snail just gives it a tingly shock and it won’t cross the copper tape boundary. We’ve wrapped it around our plant tubs and so far no little blighters have been nibbling.
It was only 99p a roll so worth a try
It was in the gardening section next to the snail treatments.
lol Donna @ShropshireNaturalProducts any excuse for toffee, bet your garden is sparkling from the Cds, I did it last year, one at each end of the garden, it did work but this year it doesn’t bother them, As for the sparrow hawk come and catch this one it’s useless Haha! lucky you have apples left i’m jealous now, hmmm wonder if i can sneak in your garden without being attacked by your disc’s, what music are they … wouldn’t be swinging 60’s would they Loving the new soaps x
Maureen @sewflair I go on midnight slug duty I pop some salt in a small bag pooper scoop size, using rubber gloves i pick them up and chuck em in the bag and give a little shake, if i’m to tired, i go round with salt just sprinkle over the path lightly, by the time they realize they are on it it’s to late to go back, it kind of dries them up without going like waterey jelly.
Just back in from an extended work day, yet again!
Have clicked and will pin in a little while from Carol’s board.
Well done on huge sales, and I have one too! Yay! Off the mark for June! Happy dancing for us all!
Donna, I was going to suggest used CD’s and netting, but I see these ideas are already in play, fingers crossed you get the problem sorted, we had no gooseberry sorry plums last year! Still have a few gooseberries on the bush, but have not checked today!
Pinned and tweeted a few more = Karen @KarensCraftyBits - we tried the copper tape last year with a bit of success - the beans they have devoured this year were in a trough with copper tape all around the edges - so maybe they have got used to it. @silverspiral - will have to try your salt idea - haven’t tried that - Maureen
Jax and Karen - a green eco/enviro friendly way of reducing slugs is to cut a grapefruit in half, squeezing out most of the flesh/juice then leaving it on a plate in the garden. The slugs love it and can’t resist, but you do have to go out every evening and morning to pick them out of the fruit and dispose of them. Better and cheaper than using up the beer!
Evening all, it seems to later and later every night. lol
Oh dear Carol, that is such a pity, swimming is my favourite sport, I LOVE the water.
@NOfkantsCurios I had another two sales in the early hours of the morning but unfortunately still haven’t received payment for it. I have sent an email along the advice guidelines that you gave earlier on in the thread and we will see what happens. Happy, happy dancing for you though. Congratulations on your sale. @silverspiral Jax, I really love that primrose flower pendant. Truly lovely, I’m not surprised it sold so quickly. @Dawitchi I have been wondering about whether I had a cold the couple of days too. I have all of the hay fever symptoms, but also have a terrible cough. Totally annoying, hate being ill. I’ve always been a terrible patient. I Must stop complaining though, it’s certainly not going to help.
All clicked and loved to her. Have a lovely refreshing sleep.
Annelee xx
I am being very cheeky and giving my “give-away” another plug! I know some of you have entered but If you haven’t please follow the link. This is a photo of the prize:
And this is the link:
I love this thread and when I stop selling, don’t think I shall be disappearing because I love to shop on folksy. Also, it is very educational. I now know what to use for hayfever (I am not a sufferer) and I know how to get rid of slugs (I don’t have a garden ). What a great read and what lovely items to tempt me!
Good luck with the sales. The sales fairy has been very good to me this week and my shop is nearly empty! Yay!
Morning all, caught up to here, I had major problems with internet last night and am still getting the server error on here so frustrating!. Anyhow all done now.
Just a relist for now and then we’ll see what the day brings in terms of creativity! Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to get anything done if there is anyone else in the house. Even if they are busy doing their own thing I just can’t seem to get on with anything now the girls have finished school.
Hope the slugs are being defeated. I’m afraid my garden looks like a wilderness at the moment although I was very brave yesterday and took the hedge trimmers to our front hedge. It’s a Berberis and very spiny and so overgrown it was scratching the car every time I drove onto the drive, and as for the poor people walking down the pavement! Personally I would like to get rid of it but my husband seems to think it is good for security.
Morning, long day ahead as I’ve been up during the night with my daughter having nightmares and then decided to get up at 4.30!
I’m relisting again today, I really can’t decide whether to list anything new before my account is due for renewal, I’ve got a few weeks to mull it over.
I hope you have a very productive day with lots of visits from the sales fairy x
