New Seller Feedback Required

Hi, everyone.

I launched my shop this week, no sales yet but early days.

It would be really helpful if you could give me some feedback on my shop, appearance, photography, price etc.

I’m adding some new items this week and would really appreciate your comments so it can look as appealing as possible.

Many thanks
Karen

Hi and welcome to Folksy. I do love your shop and your hats but I’m not sure about the background to your photographs. I found myself looking through the transparent mannequin and looking at the garden rather than your lovely hats. Also you haven’t got the whole hat in a lot of the pictures so maybe you need to move a little further back. I do hope you don’t think I’m criticising because I do like the uniformity of your shop and I’m only trying to be helpful. What does the mannequin look like on a plain background? I hope you’ll do well on Folksy - it’s such a lovely little community.

I agree with Martine…I found that the glass heads didn’t help show up the hats…I wonder if a plain , light coloured background would help?. The hats are beautiful it is just that I don’t like the heads…they look very dark…
Also you can add more photos, so it would be a good idea to show the hat “side on” and maybe one from the back as well.
Welcome to folksy and good luck x

I agree with Martine and Brenda about the glass heads. The heads are lovely, but you’re not selling them you’re selling the lovely Shetland and Merino wool hats. I think more photographs of the side, back and top of the hats would be helpful and the description should also include washing instructions and size.

How about adding something to the ‘About’ section too. I’m sure I’m not the only one that likes to read a bit about the people I’m buying from.

Good luck with your future sales - these would make lovely Christmas presents!

With respect to photos - Folksy crops the images to square when showing them on our shop fronts or in search results. So when I look at your shop front the top portion of the hat is missing in all the photos (its fine when I look at the listing). I pre crop my photos to square using picasa but there are plenty of other free photo editing apps that you could use, and you could easily loose a bit of neck from the shots to make the hat more central.
I’d also include washing instructions and dimensions in the listing.

Thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
Lots of things for me to look into and all very valid comments, so I’ll try on a plain background.
Thanks again x

Thanks Brenda, great feedback which I can act on quickly and easily x

Thanks for the feedback. Its all trial and error at this early stage, so any advice is very welcome x
