Hi
Can anyone tell me if we can now sell to Northern Ireland again without a representative and filling in lots of Paperwork under the New Windsor Framework that was brought in in May ? I keep getting different answers when I have googled it
I was asking about this too - I’ve been told that if you use Royal Mail to send then you don’t need a representative, but I’m also being told that isn’t the case. (And to be fair, if you think about it, it does seem unlikely that RM would even be able to physically do that.)
I’m not sure if it has changed, or whether this is just wishful thinking!
yeah I read that information yesterday but today I got different info so I stay confused
Sadly I don’t think we can - otherwise I’m sure we’d have heard a lot more about it from fellow small business owners and Folksy would have changed the shipping options back
There seem to be companies popping up like Euverify that deal with the rep compliance side of things for about £350 a year, but there is still all packaging acts to sign up to and pay for on top, so I haven’t looked very deeply.
Just been having another look - I am no expert but I think the Windsor Framework thing applies to the customs regulations and we don’t need to fill in a customs declaration for a parcel going to NI, which is good, BUT I can’t find anything that says the Windsor Framework in any way overrides the requirement to have a representative, labelling, safety marking and all the other paperwork that is now required for a business in a non-EU country to place goods on the market in NI in the first place. I don’t think the two things overlap at all
yes when I googled yesterday the AI reply was no we didn’t then today it seems to have changed its tune. I need to go back to the Government website again I think. I have lost a lot of business from the EU on my other store and now The US sales have slowed down to. As Deborah said there are businesses popping up but its not worth it with all the packaging charges as well.
I did a test shipment on Royal Mail and all it asked for was the weight and brief summary of the package much like a customs form but didn’t want any other info.
My understanding is that the Windsor Framework is totally separate to the GSPR and we still need a representative.
The Windsor framework has nothing to do with the EU’s GSPR’s. So if you want to sell to NI, technically you do still require an EU rep
