Round here everyone gives their wool to the charity shops and we have several groups who knit for newborns at the hospital (which just shows that most yarn donated is not wool at all but acrylic!
If you decide not to sell them, there are lots of scrap stores around the country that would probably take them. I don’t know where you’re based but that could be an option.
Thats a good idea, I would like to do that, I know at one time people knitted hats for newborn babies and premature babies but I don’t have the time now so I might contact the hospital and see of I they would like the yarn.
I’d go nuts if I couldn’t crochet. It relaxes me so much. Two years ago I couldn’t crochet a stitch, so I went on You Tube and learned how.
Ive a ton of other things I do to relax, arting, horsing and knitting to name but three, so I don’t mind not being able to crochet, I can do granny squares, but I’ve always been a knitter rather than a chocheter. I do think crochet is very rhythmical though.
All my friends are walking around with these on! I’m like go on, have one, you must! Weird quirky hats for my weird quirky friends!!
Love it…I like weird, but I only really wear black kind of weird if that makes sense …but if I did colour I’d definitely wear it, love those oversized pompoms.
I found these today in a tub amongst other books waiting to go to red cross, these are new or almost as they have been stored but anyone who does a little crochet if you want them I can post them to you. I don’t know how to crochet but some of the patterns are suppose to be easy ones.(not easy enough for me though).
We don’t have leftover yarn anymore lol!
The three of us (my mum, sister and I) all knit. I’m a knitting newbie, only been doing it about a year, but I started using the leftovers of yarn to knit head warmers, wrist warmers etc for the Link to Hope charity (their Christmas shoe box gift appeal)- they help impoverished people in Ukraine, Romania etc., families and elderly people.
My mum does hats for the same charity, and the smallest balls of yarn get used for glove puppets etc.
I think if you sold jobs lots of yarn on here they would be snapped up!
@PaintedHorseArt (crochet is something that enrages me )
i’m using my yarn scraps for knitted squares for a future blanket - but like you, only if they co-ordinate nicely (ie anything with pink haha)
or for heels 'n toes for franken-socks if the left overs are enough.
everything else goes in a big bag for drop off at our local woolshop. the owner runs knit and crochet workshops, and uses even the tiniest scraps for people to play and experiment
Never thought of Franken-socks! Trust you
