Donating baby blankets

Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where I could donate handmade crochet baby blankets?

I’m having a rethink of my shop, a lot of my blankets have expired and I’m trying to decide whether to relist them here as I’ve found it very hard and time consuming to be trying to sell them.

I’ll definitely still be crocheting though, whatever I decide to do, they just might not be for sale. I enjoy making cross stitch cards too, and need to restock, but crochet I think will soon just become a hobby for me again which will probably make it a lot more enjoyable again too.

I’d love my current ones and any future ones to go to good homes (there’s only so many you can gift to family and friends!). I’ve had a look online for any local places but not had much luck, so wondering if there’s any charities I can send them to.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I donate blankets of any size to my local Project Linus which is an amazing charity that gifts blankets to children going through grief, trauma and illness, also check out the Loving Hands website, they have a list of charities that accept crochet items, also maybe have a look on Ravelry in the groups and see what the UK charity groups recommend.

Project Linus would also be my recommendation.

@AquaStudioCrafts Thank you for the suggestions! I’ve had a look at Project Linus, my nearest one only seems to accept quilts but I can contact others nearby. I’ve donated to Loving Hands quite a few years ago but can’t seem to find their website now after searching the web, do you happen to know it? Didn’t think of looking on Ravelry either so thank you

@RusticCountryStyleCrafts Thanks for your reply too! Looks the best option so far.

Looks like the Loving hands one is gone! That is such a shame, it had a big list of charities to send to. Perhaps contact the person running your local Project Linus and ask if they accept crochet as well, might be worth a try. I know Knit for Peace are always asking for blankets. Hope you can find something soon x.

It is a shame, but there seem to be some other good options now at leasr. Knit for Peace looks good too and they have some places not too far from me. I’m glad I asked on here, some great suggestions which makes me happy they’ll be used well, thank you!
