@PhotoFairytales It’s best to contact support@folksy.co.uk if you have a problem that needs an answer from Folksy, it can be easy for us to miss comments on the forum (the @folksyadmin account is reserved for forum moderation, it’s not one we regularly check for tags/support queries), and we don’t check the forum as regularly as our support inbox, so it’ll usually take longer to get an answer here.
There are different reasons you could get an error from PayPal when trying to check out, and if you contact support letting us know who you were trying to buy from and the date/time you were trying, support will be able to check the PayPal notifications for errors. We do get sent error codes (unfortunately not normally linked to the shop details which is why we need to know the approximate time), but the errors are vague and cover various different issues. Sometimes it’s a code that suggests it’s an issue on the buyer end, but turns out to be a problem with the seller’s account.
Sometimes it’s been as simple as the seller had a typo in their PayPal email address (usually when it’s a new shop and their first sale), so that’s the first thing to check (on the ‘shop settings’ page from dashboard). If it’s someone that has had previous PayPal sales but no sales or only Stripe sales for a while, that suggests there might be a problem with the seller’s PayPal account.
We’d suggest the seller logs in to their PayPal account to check for any notifications (sometimes there might be a message that some settings need updating or they want to verify your identity). If there are no notifications, we’d recommend the seller gets in contact with PayPal to ask why they’ve been unable to receive payments (and then they can share the error code we’ve been given as this may be more help to PayPal).
Unfortunately sellers don’t always share with us exactly what the problem turned out to be, but we know some sellers have resolved the issue this way.
