Really struggling with photos (again)!

I think if you want to use white background, don’t use a mannequin. Arrange it cleverly or plainly. Then use a live model either in a lifestyle setting or wearing it with white background. Look at how the big brands do theirs. Make your life easy. Get a sheer organza curtain (plain) cover your biggest & brightest (not direct light) window, and shoot there.

Oh! And get this too!

It’s funny how everyone has different preferences. I think using a model or ‘Betty’ (mannequin) is more professional looking. I hate seeing scarves laid out flat. They have no life and texture to me, and I like to see them as they would look around the neck. I do think though that dark or dull photos are a killer. I use a good camera and Photoshop and Lightroom for my products.

Your photos look as though they’ve been cut around? I would say that’s not a good look. Better to have a plain background or perhaps a darker Betty (mannequin) and white background. I’ve always found that real people modelling scarves are a good way to sell. The problem is finding friends or family who are happy to do that.

Just a thought. how about dressing the Betty in clothes, say a white dress, and then draping the scarf around? I’ve done that too and it looks quite nice.

I think your scarves are beautiful and I don’t think a buyer would think it cheap or undesirable just because it’s not against a particular background. I love them and they look amazing. If I’m after a particular product, I’ll go with the actual design and production as my criteria for buying.
