After reporting a plethora of rogue shops this morning, one of whom had actually stolen an image from a regular seller. Just interested who bothers to spend time each day checking the new shops? I spent almost 30 minutes this morning searching and digging to check whether genuine or not. Mainly because remembered the model. Another who even put in Macau so blatant.
Iāve never thought about checking out new shops - Iām not sure I would actually recognise a āwrong unā but Iāll start checking new shops more regularly from now on as itās really important to protect Folksyās integrity. Well done caroline @Caroleecrafts.
I try to check them a couple of times a week.
Also I sometimes spot something on the ānewest items on Folksyā section on the front page if they have just listed something dodgy.
I always report if something isnāt right.
I have to confess to checking the new sellers daily, my son calls me the Folksy police x
I vote that those of us who do check them regularily, kindly spending our time reporting them, with helpful reverse searches on Google and links provided, Stop doing it.
I, for one, refuse to use self checkout in the supermarkets as I am a customer, not a paid shop assistant so on that same basis I really am wondering why any of us customers should be spending our precious and unpaid time monitoring the new seller listings. I am not aware we have ever even been acknowledged or thanked for the rather super customer service we provide ?.
So I suggest we have a February month long New Seller Bad Listing Reporting Strike.
Maybe then Folksy will realise that there is an alternative⦠pre vetting before a shop is allowed to open.
I get very annoyed about it and after this morning I too am going to abstain Joy.
Spent 30 minutes which I can not get back and not my job. My work is to create. I used to do investigative work in my proper job with a rather large salary attached, there was a purpose behind that as made a difference.
OK I will also try to sit on my hands in February I will still report the scam/fraudulent oneās that still pop up from time to time to the urgent email as requested previously by admin as in my view they need deleting immediately where possible
x
Yes I do report and get fed up with it. itās a pain, it takes time but I just think if no one does report, then this platform will be full of non genuine craft stuff and that would be detrimental to the site. Plus I do it in the vain hope that Folksy will do something about it to stop it happening in the first place! Maybe something like a default where you canāt actually join the the site unless you fill in the āaboutā section as the vast majority of these shops donāt . I donāt know how it works these days getting a shop but it seems all you have to do is pay the fee and youāre in!
Mind you , it is not the worst detrimental thing about the site- that has to be the fact that customers can only view 5 rows of items when searching in the search bar (20 items) before having to click on āsee more resultsā and then move the cursor over to the right hand side to scroll up and then back to the middle and click again and back to the side to scroll up! Like I have said before all the other buying sites have an average of 60 per page , so much better in my opinion.
I am not even reporting them, these are the ones that need to be left. I used the urgent email for reporting yesterday and got told not to use it, so not bothering. I considered them urgent as a blight on Folksy.
I spend a few minutes every evening having a quick check and reporting. No itās not my job and yes the admin team should be doing it. But i dont want bad sellers on here. Or for that matter people who havenāt read the rules about assembled items.
I agree that if the about section and an avatar where compulsory would put some off as takes more effort. Plus the about has to be so many letters rather than a stupid 3 words.
One of my contacts in the US said one site applied for had to send off samples to be checked and list her experience. She was advised on applying could take up to 4 weeks to be vetted etc.
I donāt particularly want Folksy to go down that route. But if it takes me 5 minutes to identify possible infringement and report it then holding a new shop from going live for 24 hours, and over weekends, until admin have given it a once-over should be a perfectly good compromise and not too onerous for the admin staff.
But Folksy will not put shops on hold, which is why we have the problem.
Snap, with you all the way on the self checkout.
One sitting on the new shops atm, items bought bulk from AliExpress wonder how long will be there.
How do you find the new shops to check? I am very grateful to those who have spent time checking and reporting. I feel that at Folksy we have a collaborative approach to keep it as it should be. Is there a way to report shops? I donāt mind scanning through a few shops now and again. Could we share out the load? Does admin have a set procedure for checking any shops that have been reported? @folksycontent
I do agree with the self service concept but I donāt want Folksy to be spoilt.
Thereās a page with new shops listed back to almost Folksy day 1. I donāt think itās linked to from other Folksy pages so hereās the link @coolforglass
Deborah it is very good of you to make this suggestion but we were trying to point out that not our job to do. Several of us have been doing it for years and have asked that all new shops are vetted before they go live. Folksy do not want to do this but if you apply to a good craft fair you are vetted first, in some instances sending creations to be checked and judge. If you arrive at a fair and plonk a load of bought in goods down from the likes of AliExpress you are asked to leave before open to the public. Our request is that shops are held from going live until checked.
Hence why we are stopping checking the spam shops until something is done. We al, pay for being on here and that fee should ensure us some protection from spam shops.
I donāt check new shops but Iām very aware that quite a few of you do.
I totally agree with what you are saying. It wouldnāt worry me having to wait a few days to be accepted on a platform. It would give assurance that people who sell are genuine.
Ok, Iām in on the āsit on my handsā February.
Lets see how many spam or fishy shops the month brings. It might make surprising viewing.
