Many thanks Louise @LouiseGraceJewellery for going to the trouble of getting this info about import and export charges between Scotland and the UK.
It’s very reassuring to know that there won’t be any.
I am also pleased to know that postal costs are not likely to be higher either.
I am 3/32 ths Scottish so I vote to keep all of me and Great Britain together as far too painful to split up and impossible to put back together again later.
I think it would be a sad thing to see Scotland leave the Uk and I really worry that Wales would then follow suit. It is a tiny country and wouldn’t be able to survive on it’s own. I know we all joke about the English but I believe as a whole we are stronger and richer and the united kingdom. I’d worry about thing like where benefits would come from at the moment they are paid by tax money from the whole of the UK, would taxes go up in independent smaller countries to pay for them? And what about the Armed forces, in this day and age with all the craziness in the world it seems more and more likely we’ll need the Army etc Will it still be the British armed forces of will each country have to form and fund their own? Even though I live in England now Scottish independance and the effect it’ll have on Wales really worries me!

I think it would be sad if Scotland leaves. Does anyone know if that means the Union Jack would have to go too as we would be using two different flags? I believe the Union Jack is a combination of the English and Scottish flag together. I love the Union Jack and think it is one of the most easily recognisable, but maybe that would have to be broken up too?
I know it is probably way down the list of things of importance, but it had me wondering.
Funny thing is, I live in Wales with no Scottish connections, but my son, a horizontal graduate boomerang living back at home has applied for jobs all around the country with no responses except for two in Scotland.
He is going up for an interview next week - all £168 train fare and hotel overnight and no money in his bank account but that’s a whole other story! - and I’m wondering how it will effect him if he did get the job, because it would effectively be working abroad!
We could go for a flag with a nice red dragon on it instead lol @RaggyRobin I have always felt a bit miffed that it wasn’t included anywhere on the union flag
I am more inclined personally to associate the union flag with mod memorabilia!!! which I do love, other than anything to do with the monarchy or any other association!! to be honest I see it as as an outdated symbol.
In Scotland we fly the Saltire:)
This is a lovely poem by a lovely Welsh woman, dont you just love the accent!! each time she says twitter I shiver!!:))
worth a watch,
updated and deleted as I’m unsure if it is within the rules to post a video here…
but the poem can be watched on my f/book…
Now that would be a bit unfair as it’s hard enough making a stained glass Union Jack with its 32 fiddly straight pieces but trying to stick a dragon on there as well but be, well “Just Not British :)”
Oh dear I just read the relpy about Scotland would be a EU member should they vote Yes to independence. This is not correct they would not automatically become part of the EU. They would have to first prove they had a stable ecomony and currency, that normally takes about 2 years.
They would no doubt end up as part of the EU but it will come a lot later if they vote yes.
I hope the vote will be a No vote I wish I was able to vote but have lived to long in England. My father and grandfather would be turning in their graves if they knew what was happening now.
Well, we’ll all know in the morning what’s people have voted to do and we’ll all have to then deal best we can with whatever the outcome may be.
Oh I no, I am pretty sure I read that Scotland will have to apply to become member of the EU again. IF the result is ‘Yes’, there will be negotiations and will become officially independent in March 2016. It’s quite stressful as we can’t take back the decision. Let’s hope for the best!
Yeah we’ve been told by the yes and no campaigns that it’s not something that will happen overnight, a timetable has been set out that will take us to March 2016 to become independent and then a further 6 months before joining the EU. I think we forget how robust Scotland is as a nation, if the vote is yes then we won’t let the country fail, it’s just who we are. This is the first vote I’ve ever cast where I was excited to do so, I’m even planning on staying up to watch the counts come in. I think the main thing is that whatever the outcome we work together to make it work.
