Shipping Internationally

Wow, I was pricing up the cost to sell overseas and any additional information such as custom forms and so on. It has worked out that for me to sell and ship overseas would price me out of the market. What I sell in the UK for £7.00 then costs up to £3.00 for shipping, which includes packaging and mail costs. The same item, still at £7.00, would cost over £10 to ship overseas. A £7.00 item becomes £17.00. Guess I will remain selling just to the UK (when I eventually ger a sale).

I sadly stopped selling to the EU when the need for a GPSR rep came in as I couldn’t justify the cost for the few sales I used to get to Europe and I haven’t sold anything to the US since the tarrifs started in Sept 2025.

Overseas customers seem happy to pay postage if the item is what they want.

Like @sarahloucrafts I don’t sell to the EU. I stopped when all their packaging regulations came in. Each county has their own rules and some are expensive (too expensive for the few sales I get anyway) And the GPSR thing makes it too costly for me too. I do sell to every other country though with no problems.

Like others say due to rules I don’t sell to the EU. But I do sell to US, Canada and Australia. Very often the postage is more than the item, they are used to paying more for postage than we are.

It’s costing you nothing to offer the option and it may bring in some extra sales.

People will pay for international shipping if they want something, id love to know what percentage of sales on Folksy come from overseas and which countries.

Can I ask what you decided to do? Also to @Knittingtopia & @TwistedbytheSea how do you do shipping international on Folksy.

The settings are EU, USA & Rest of World. So for Canada and Australia I obviously need to do ROW but Canada is World Zone 1 and Australia is WZ2 so do you do an average cost or the most expensive one, please?

@sarahloucrafts on Folksy I offer USA I did start adding ROW but I will probably be removing that as it covers too many countries I wouldn’t want to ship to.

On E I offer USA, Australia and Canada.

Have you linked Folksy to Royal Mail click and drop - buying postage is then really easy to do.

Thanks Jennie, I am just looking at the RM Click and Drop website now. It is already causing me a headache trying to work it all out. :face_with_peeking_eye: That was my concern about the Rest Of World option. I think I will stick to just UK for now.

Integrating your shop is worth doing, Google nay give you instructions, there is probably some on here somewhere. It makes shipping to the US easy as it fills in most of the paperwork.

I use it for all shipping other then E

Here’s the thread about integrating your click and drop :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Sarah, I have my ROW set to the highest price and refund any overpayment. Not ideal but it’s rare I get an overseas order on here anyway.

Thanks, that is useful to know.

I do my postage on the royal mail website, uk and overseas, and never found it difficult, it just prompts you with what info it needs and fills it all in for you .
